Yes I love To Kill a Mockingbird. You'll like it, it's not the most action packed story, but you'll be glad you read it.

I read it my junior year of high school. It was one of my favorite books. I really need to get around to rereading it one of these days.

I just read it, well most of it. Kind of didn't do all the assigned reading at the end but we talked about the story in class and also watched the movie. I won't give anything away, but it kind of picked up and got more interesting and the end was interesting as well.

    There's a reason why it's a classic :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

That said, I wasn't super fond of it, past the great characterisation and dialogue of the kids. I preferred Of Mice and Men, out of all the books I was forced to read :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Reread it recently (before reading Go Set A Watchman, which was awful) and was surprised at how much more I remember the movie than the book. I think that's the case for most people but like with any adaptation just as much is cut out as is left in (Aunt Alexandra anyone?)

I had forgotten how funny the book can be, and how well it captures how kids think about and see the world. Up until the middle of the book there's no real "plot", just a lot of scenes of small town life that builds up the background to the courtroom stuff and then it carries on to the end.

Worth the read but since it's assigned reading you're already a captive audience.

    Only everyone. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
I love that book so much. I read it at the end of elementary school for the first time, and picked it up again at the end of high school. It's definitely still one of my favorite books. I think it's beautiful. And it makes me cry.

(I'm in two minds about buying Go Set a Watchman, though...)

I've read the book, it's one of my favourites: absolutely amazing. To be fair, if you're reading it for school you might not enjoy it so much, that is often the way with me.

It's a really good book. It will seem slow in class, because it's that kind of story, but if you read it at a good pace on your own, you might really enjoy it.

My teacher today was talking how it could be a difficult book for some because its past tense but the author is talking about the past when she is an adult but is in the 6yr olds position when telling the story or something like that,

Read it in high school. It is a good book when you get a little further in.

I haven't actually read it myself but I have to read it, as well as An Inspector Calls, for my English Literature exam. My teacher says she prefers these books to the ones we were originally doing (Of Mice and Men and Romeo and Juliet).

I've also ordered the books to read in my own time so I can understand it better when we do it in class. I'm glad it's well received, so hopefully I'll enjoy these two books better than the other ones.

Like mostly everyone else, I had to read it in school. It being required reading for class kind of ruined it for me. I've tried reading it outside of school, still don't like reading that book. I liked the movie though.

Am I the only person who actually hates this book? It could have been named "I have the greatest dad in the world and I am obsessed with him" or "Let's mock our anti-social neighbor because he's weird and doesn't ever go out" instead. Most of the characters weren't realistic at all, especially the children, who seemed to me as fake as a dildo compared to a penis. I appreciate that at some point it is about discrimination, which could have been nice if it hadn't been served in such an uninteresting manner, but as a whole I see no point in reading this book. It really isn't one of my favorites and I hate that people keep comparing it to The Catcher in the Rye, which is waaaaaaaay better

But oh well, that's just my opinion.
