Words cannot describe the awesome... Here she is as Reno in the revival of 'Anything Goes' Here she is as Ms. Lovett in the revival of 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street'. She's certainly no Angela Lansbury, but she does an amazing job! Here she is as the original Evita in, what else, 'Evita'. (Note: She was the original Evita on Broadway. She did NOT play Evita in the London production in 1978) And my personal favorite... This is Patti Lupone as Mama Rose in 'Gypsy'. She's totally amazing. Worship the ground she walks on. DOOOO IIIIIIT
she is a god... boo that gypsy is closing they had an interview on the news today actually.. with her.. about broadway going dark... she said she thought it will be her last job...
I knew about that whole Broadway going dark... but it's so sad. Broadway can't go under before I win my Tony! As for Patti LuPone's last job... that's terrible. But as long as she's a gay icon, she'll always have something to occupy her.
I saw her in Gypsy last month. It was the most powerful performance I have ever seen on stage. Her passion and truthful character were out of this world. Broadway isn't going to disappear until American society disappears. Patti sometimes jumps the gun, but there is no doubt that she is an important role model... As she says: Train and ACT, don't go on stage and mug. Work for truth and integrity, and grow as an actor until the end.
