I'm a huge fan of dramatic orchestra and chorus music! Truthfully, I prefer music that has a darker tone (fast-paced, something that would be used to score a battle or something).

The music in Stargate (movie, show) is a great example. I also like the music in the Halo games. I was sort of hoping someone else might now of good orchestra songs to check out.

Well this is rock/metal music, but it uses alot of strings and its definately darker stuff.

    Apocaliptica (cellos)
Dimmu Borgir (very dark, diminished sounding chords)
Dragonforce (some of their slower songs, not just Through the fire and flames :gag: )
    Within Temptation
Nightwish (their old singer was an opera singer)

Hmm...that's all I can think of off the top of my head. You could always just look up Symphonic Rock too. Its got some good stuff. Enjoy!

I'm an orchestral and choral musician so I gotta love it. lol. When you said dark stuff, the first thing I thought of was "O Fortuna" from Carmina Burana by Orff. You'll know it the minute you hear it.

I love orchestra music! I play viola in school but I want to switch to upright bass once I can read music.

^^ I love upright bass... and the cello too.
I love anything low, so bari sax, bass clar, bassoons, and all the low brass (really, all brass except trumpets as the fr horn is the only other brass instrument that is not low and I LOVE the fr horn)...

    I second/third 1812 Overture.

also Rhapsody in Blue by Gershwin.
ALL cello music (I play cello  )... especialmente the Bach Suites for Unaccompanied Violoncello as played by Edgar Meyer on double bass
