    So.....

have you seen it on TV or read the book?

What did you think of it?

I've seen it twice on TV and I wondered what others made of it. Idk, I'm bored.

Ah ok, I've heard some of it on an audio book before and I've seen it twice. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I've neither seen nor read it, but it sounds interesting, I'd definitely love to give it a shot in either form.

On an unrelated side note, though, the first thing I thought upon first seeing the thread's name was The Boy In The Striped Pajamas. Aha.

Is that the book illustrated by Quentin Blake about a cross dressing boy called Dennis or are we on completely different pages (no pun intended XD)

Oh yay! It's such a good book. I read it when I was like 11 and loved it... in retrospect I really should have seen the queer train coming for me at full speed right then XD

I have absolutely no idea how to add the spoiler bit on my Kindle so I'm just gonna agree with your fave bit... And mine I think is the bit at the end with the head teacher XD

:roflmao: "Queer train" I'm using this.

To add a spoiler all you need to do is put:

    [ SPOILER ] your information [ /SPOILER ]

Except without the spaces. Don't know if that's possible on a Kindle, since I don't use one very often, but still.

True, I do love that bit as well. AHH there's so many great moments in it to choose from! I've never read it but I've seen the BBC special on it on TV before (twice actually).

It's kinda an inside joke I have with my friends. My text tone is a train horn so I can differentiate it from other people's, and my group of queer friends... Well, girlfriend and best friend, were in a revision session when it went off. And the whole class went silent and I looked up, looked at both of them and whispered 'the queer train is coming for us!' And we lost our shit for like 5 minutes. And now I use it all the time and I hope you have just as much fun using it as I do XD

Oh My God that's so easy. I should have figured that out myself, sorry XD

I didn't actually know there was a movie until I found this thread... are the dresses pretty?

The one with the flowers on or in the first picture? True, but it was only really meant to be a one of special. Still- it's quite funny and memorable watch none the less.

The one in the first picture- I really don't like it. I'm just glad the film is available, I guess. It's a good message.

Now everyone just needs to watch Billy Elliot the musical XD

I presume you mean the one with the Jewels on rather than the polka-dots. I've never seen Billy Elliot but I have heard of it before I think.

Yeah. It looks horrible, I don't know why I just hate it XD

It's about a young boy who accidentally starts ballet lessons and then discovers that he's really good at it. It's a brilliant musical and it's got a song on cross dressing- what more could you want from a musical? XD The only way it could get better is if it had Idina Menzel in it!

Yeah, I've heard of the concept of the musical before, I just haven't seen it. I actually used to take ballet when I was younger (I wasn't a great fan of it but still) and there was a guy in our class. The other girls made fun of him so he left. :icon_sad:

I did a ballet lesson once when I was about 3 or 4. My mum took me and I had to wear a fucking tutu (I was never the most girly of kids) and the teacher started dancing with me, but I didn't understand it and I just felt stupid like what the hell. So I broke hands with my teacher, went up to my mum sat in the audience and announced very loudly 'mum, this is crap!'

She never took me back. God, I wish I'd stuck at it because I'd have so much more chance of getting into theatre. Man, fuck you 3 year old me.

There were a lot of boys there. I remember about 1/4 of the class was male.

Really? Our entire class was female except for one male, and the other ballet classes I went to were completely female.

Also that song makes me want to see more of it just out of pure curiosity.

This was a class up to age 7, so I don't know why it had so many boys...

That song is brilliant. I can't help bit ship them two. You can get the show on DVD- it was filmed live in London last year, and its closing on the west end in April :frowning2: That makes me really sad. I hate it when shows close. Can't we just build more theatres and keep them running?!
