This is a teen movie? I don't know but most of the cast are teenagers. It has a tragic ending (someone dies). But I think it's a happy ending. It's one of the best and meaningful movie i have ever seen. Has anyone seen it before? and there are two gay guys in the movie :icon_mrgr
I've never heard of it... hmmm But the way you described it makes it sound awesome! "and there are two gay guys in the movie":eusa_danc
Oh, I know that movie!!!!!! I wanted to watch but I didn't have chance to watch...Hearing what you said about this movie makes me wanna go to theater now!!!!!!! Here is a link to someone's blog talking about the movie:http://blogs.suntimes.com/scanners/2006/09/toronto_suicide_isnt_painless.html
I dont know if this movie reflects 100% of the high schools in the US or Australia today. If it does, going to high school is like going to hell. In my country, which is very conservative, gay topics have never been discussed in my high school. Maybe, people never think of the possibilities that their friends, family members or their relatives might be homosexual. We are supposed to abstain from having sex before marriage. Therefore, the number of couples in my high school can be counted on two palms, or at least they don't flaunt their love in public like kissing, holding hands, etc. because it is rude to do so in public. No friends in my class ever asked me like why don't u have a girl friend because they haven't got one either.:icon_mrgr
I thought I'd bring this thread back from Davy Jones locker to say, that I just watched it (legally from blockbuster--It actually was in Canada. Whaddya know) and omg...Is it ever sad. For one it's presented well in a way it gives yuo this suspense of you don't know who's going to kill themselves (but you know someone did kill themselves) and then hits you hard as you drive deeper and deeper into the characters lives. It really makes you look at the way highschool is. It makes you want to change it. The imaging is used so well and the sound is really effective. It's good to see a director knows what he's doing. I just wish that final scene wasn't too long (couldn't want BTW). But watch this movie...then watch Juno and feel better..because although it's a good movie. It will upset you.
Hehe, I told you it was a good movie (in the other thread about it)! Im glad someone else got to see it.
Well it's not all about gay...there is alot more to it. That last scene though...fedal position...blood...still shocks me.
The gay storyline is only own storyline in about 6...that's like saying Friends is about compulsively cleaning, although that's only Monica
Theres hardly any gay in it, I was disappointed actually I wanted MOAR! MOAR MOAR MOAR! I wrote to the maker of this movie but he never replided... Fucking bum.
I haven't seen the movie - but I have seen the reviews...pretty much all of which were positive. The director (and writer) Maurali Thalluri is Australian (born of Indian parents) and was still under 20 when he wrote this - he's only in his early 20's now. Given the critical acclaim for something he produced on a minimal budget, it will be interesting to see what he can do in the future.
I hope he creates more movies in the future. The man is a genius! Great camera work, and the acting in such a low budget film....WOW
