I still go out and buy CD's instead of downloading.

Am I the only one who does this. I mean yeah it will wear out eventually but I like the feeling of holding a physical copy of someone's work in my hand. Maybe i'm just old fashioned that way. :eusa_danc

I do the same as well. Though it's nice to have a library of your own, it doesn't beat the physical copy. The music sounds a lot more dead to me digitally wise then the ones that are digitially converted.

You're not alone here. I buy CDs all the time, as well as records. I feel like paying for downloads is a waste of money and cheats you out of the full experience.

ive started listening to my old LP's, there is something nice about sitting listening to the music, holding the sleeve, reading the lyric sheet, looking at the artwork. That was kind of lost a bit when the cd come in and totally lost with downloads....

I prefer to buy the actual album! instead of downloading a album, unless it's just ONE song I like on the album or if the album isn't available in Europe.

Most of my buying has been used vinyl LPs. I was buying vinyl before it became hot. For that matter, I am old enough to remember when LPs were a standard format, period. CD was first released when I was in late elementary school.

I buy some used CDs, mainly because they are dirt cheap now.

Although...buying new...I might start moving at least partly to digital files. A major selling point: it's possible to get better recordings than what CD is capable of.

I haven't done it in years but I always liked the idea of having a physical collection of my favorite music. I basically stream everything though. That being said, I do follow a band that has a lot of stuff that's unavailable to stream in my country. So I thought about just biting the bullet and getting their CDs. I don't have a disc drive on my Mac though.

Me too. There's something about looking at the pictures, reading the lyrics, and the "thank yous." It feels like you're buying a piece of the artist.

To me it's gotta be either vinyl or CD, I can't stand only having a downloaded version of an album.

And also to me they sound better than downloads.

I used to buy cds whenever I could afford one... but I listen to so much music that buying all wasn't possible. And ever since I discovered spotify... well, I must say it's so much more convenient, and premium subscription is more affordable.

Also... to be honest, 320 kbps mp3 is pretty much the same as cd for most listeners. I did blind tests using somewhat high end hardware and nobody could tell which is mp3 and which was the original, physical copy.

But mostly, price and convenience. I listen to a lot of music and I don't need to switch cds all the time anymore.

I much prefer to buy physical CDs, which is usually considered strange for my age group.
I grew up with my mom playing her CDs in the car all the time, and it just feels so personal reading the lyrics and notes from the band!

I refuse to buy download-only albums. If I can't hold it in my hands, browse through the little booklet and appreciate the cover art then I don't want it.

Wow I'm surprise with how many still collect them.
I'm more of a download kind of guy. Simply because I either lose or break the CD. Though I do download full albums of an artist I like.
I'm also more of a youtube kind of person and just have set tracks off of youtube.

I guess I don't really appreciate vinyl records, I just don't like them.

I still buy them but maybe 10 a year for albums I really love. I don't have the shalf space nor the time to listen to medicate albums.

I would do it, but downloads are already expensive here in Brazil, and the price on physical copies is just absurd.

For example, i saw a game on steam for R$ 30. The physical copy costed R$120 (each dollar is equivalent to 3,5 "reais", more or less).

For music it is a bit better, but still too overpriced (of course, physical copies are expected to cost more, but not too much more).
