I randomly watched an episode about a year ago and really didnt enjoy the way certain characters are portrayed. But I thought an internationally renouned series must be given a chance...I mean after all its loved by so many people. So in my procrastination mode I decided to put some time towards watching it from series 1 to 5. And having spent several hours of my time giving this series a chance I have come to the conclusion that it really isnt my cup of tea. Everyone loves the Tina/Bette relationship, but to me its so badly written. Lesbians are portrayed as slags who sleep with all their friends and cannot hold down long term relationships without cheating. The only parts I have enjoyed are the comedic situations that occur, especially with Alice.

I know there are people who absolutely love this tv show.....what are the bits that you love/hate about it?

I've never watched it. Do I have to hand in my lesbian card right now?

Love it!! Even though it's unbearably fake it's so good if you're up for a bit (Or should I say a LOT lol) of sexiness and lesbian love.

I watched it a few years ago with my girlfriend. I am now gay and she is now a lesbian. How amusing.

I just recently started watching this show and have managed to get through all the seasons. I have to admit I had high expectations and was somewhat disapointed. I think some of the story lines are quite contrived and hard to believe would ever happen (even on a tv show). I think the main reason I'm still watching it is because it's basically the only show with any lesbian content on right now. Plus I've become somewhat attached to a few of the characters (I <3 Alice!) and want to know what happens with them

If it portrayed the characters as stable people who have one partner the whole series long and never cheat, would it be as interesting and nail biting to watch?

i don't think so. i love the show. the cheating is the best part, it's even mentioned in the theme song! "Lying cheating crying "floocking" eating crying loving pooping cheating pooping!"

k, thats not completely accurate, me and my bff made that rendition up. haha.

one thing though. less sex! i close my eyes on those parts! ;x

It's flippin' depressing. Everything is serious business.
The first and second season weren't so bad, but when I realized that I wanted to sex up launch Jenny through a wall and then kiss smash her gorgeous drool-worthy annoying face into the ground, I stopped watching.

I can watch it, but only in small doses.

I love the L Word. That's all there is to it. I can't be bothered to defend it, because I know it has faults, but to me, not only is it entertaining, beauitful and funny, it's been really important in helping me feel better about my sexuality. In general I feel like it's done loads for my confidence and broadened my ideas of the world. So, yeah I love it.

And I find it so cute, but incomprehensible, that gay boys close their eyes with the sex. I couldn't close my eyes over that if I tried to.

I watched only one episode, and that's because Lucy Lawless was a guest star in it..I thought it was OK...had too many angry lesbians in it (no offense, lol) and that will probably be my last time watching it...

I tried watching it, but couldn't get into it. There are far more entertaining cable dramas. For instance I recently have gotten into Big Love.
