Yes. I am talking about this guy here. Have you seen the serie? Have you loved it? Eh? Ehh? EH??? I liked it just a little bit. :eusa_liar
SHERLOCK. I absolutely love sherlock and not just the character but the theory behind his ability, i find it mesmerising and intuitive and interesting and just bloody brilliant!!
No,couldn't get past the first half hour of episode 1 season 1. Think it has nothing to do with Doyle's books, and being a lover of the original, I just can't stand it. There are way better movies/series on Sherlock, set on the 19th century, as it should be.
I love Doyle's works also, but if you watch the show, it actually holds pretty true to the character. Just set in the 21st century. I'm not saying there aren't better movies/series. Who doesn't love Basil Rathbone? And Robert Downey Jr.'s incarnation was magnificent. But Benedict Cumberbatch plays the character exceptionally well. And he fits the description of Mr. Holmes to a T.
Has anyone seen the series starring Jeremy Brett? I used to watch it with my dad, thet's how I was introduced to Sherlock and Trigonometry.
I almost mentioned it, a pleasure to watch. I don't know if Sherlock could work on the 21th century. I saw the most recent movie, also set back then and it was a masterpiece... Even if the Sherlock was a different Sherlock that Brett's presented, but it still worked, you know. To me it's not the fine details of the character, it's more about the times together with the character which makes it special. I always saw Sherlock as a creature who was deeply linked to the time it was conceived. Also, I'm rather skeptic when it comes to revivals. I see new films about old characters, and can't help but wonder where are the new characters? where are the new stories?
I loved it, even though the original story is setted in different contest and century. I think Cumberbatch is a very good actor and Martin Freeman was an interesting discovery, so I appreciated the episodes because I like the way they acted. I see your point anyway, Micheal. There's always a huge difference between books and films and in this series the opposition with the original is even bigger.
