I've been listening to and writing a lot of spoken word/slam poetry lately. I love the rhythms and the way it can deliver so much impact and emotion in a creative way. Some of my favourite poets are George the Poet and Kate Tempest. Do you like spoken word? Who are your favourite artists? Do you write or perform any yourself?
I love slam poetry! I usually watch the videos that Button Poetry posts on YouTube, so I haven't heard of those two, but I'll check them out. My favorite is "Dear Straight People" by Denice Frohman, it's perfect. What are some of your favorite poems?
I can second this. Button Poetry is such a great channel. Device Frohman is a brilliant poet with so much emotion too. Some of my favourite poets (bear in mind some of them have trigger warnings): - Matt Coonan (Candy/Fish/Hangover Thoughts) - Kevin Kantor (A Letter From Cancer/People You May Know*/Phases) - Michael Lee (Waking Up Naked/Pass On/Shelters) - Patrick Roche (21/Siri/The Perfect Panic Attack/Couples Therapy*) *These were exceptionally good imo. LGBT related: Wyatt Fleckenstein - Labels Samira Obeid - Pigtails Sam Sax - After My Boyfriends Drag Show Ethan Smith - A Letter To The Girl I Used To Be Kavindu Ade - IT Stacey Waite has a couple too.
I loved Bras and Binders, but I don't remember the names of the people who performed it. And Explaining My Depression To My Mother made me really emotional. And I love Patrick Roche so much, his poems are amazing.
I just listened to "Dear Straight People"- you're right, it is perfect! I think I may get addicted to Button Poetry.
