I see people quoting Khalil Gibran on occasion, and I usually like the quotes quite a bit. Who is he though?
He wrote the Prophet. Anyone who has ever written a graduation speech has read it. He's eminently quotable.
A Lebanese poet -- and generally considered to be a pretty good one. I read an anthology of his work that included 5 different books but not The Prophet, his most famous book (go figure). If you like Keats or Longfellow or even Tennyson, then you might like Gibran.
