You know, I don't see why people seem to have such a problem with K-Pop. I'm not a fan of all the songs, but I do like some groups like Girls Generation, Big Bang, T-Ara, AOA, and a few others. I especially like remixes of many songs, but the original songs are good too.

I was just listening to some songs and was really enjoying it, but I just wonder why some people hate it so much. Thoughts? I get that people might have a problem with the "sex appeal" in some music videos, but what about the songs themselves?

In sure I remember there being some k-pop fans on this forum, I have never listened to any but im totally bored with my music - what would you recommend a newbie listen to if they wanted to try it out?

Yes indeed. Some of my favourite bands, with song suggestions in italics, are:

    INFINITE (try Bad)
    1:43 (try Ikaw At Ako)
SHINee (try Married to the Music)
    EXO

while I wouldn't say I am an avid listener of K-Pop by any measure, I enjoy BTS a lot however.

Maybe for more reasons than just the music sounds good :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I'm still entirely uncertain as to what K-pop is, and am too afraid to look it up on youtube because I get the impression that I won't be able to stand it. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

It's an occasional guilty pleasure of mine, partly because of the music and partly because the members of the female groups are very attractive...sorry not sorry.

    Agreed.
I've tried listening to it before, couldn't get into it.

You know, I'm not sure what I can recommend, but I'll tell you how I started. I started out by listening to remixes from Areia Creations on Youtube. (really good remixes even if you don't enjoy K-Pop). Then I guess regular K-Pop just started sounding better to me. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I don't. It's one of the very few genres that's actually a torment to my ears.
But I'm not a big fan of Asian pop, and other Asian things. And pop in general.

I haven't a problem with K-pop. I've listened to some on occasion. I wouldn't know any groups by name mind. <(._.)>

My friend is big into Kpop it's all she listens to. I used to like it a lot in middle school, but now it just feels very manufactured. All the groups are the same to me. They basically enter a boot camp for pop stars and train for it. You can however, find some lesser known kpop artists that have more creative freedom some of their stuff is pretty good you just need to know where to find it. I do still enjoy some of the the popular groups though.

I like the K-Pop genre! Well produced music videos too, it's somethin' special about them that makes them stand out compared to other music videos I've seen:slight_smile: I'm afraid that they are livin' with strict conditions towards their music producers when it comes to trainin' and how to live.

Girls Generations, 2NE1, f(X), Tara, Brown Eyed Girl, Hyuna, and Psy are some K-pop artists/groups that I like:wink:

Not a fan, but I'm habituated to it because my BF loves it and sometimes will send me dozens of YouTube links a day on the matter... and guess what happens when I leave him in control of YouTube TV...

I do enjoy KPop from time to time. I always have to be on the lookout for different kinds of music after all ^^ Plus, since I was already into JRock and several anime soundtracks, KPop was pretty easy to get into.

As for groups I listen to, here it is:

    Girls Generation
    Brown Eyed Girls
    f(x)
    2AM
    Hyuna
    4minute (Group Hyuna is in)
    Ailee
    Phantom
    Troublemaker
    Jay Park

I like Kara. That's the first K-Pop group I've really found myself enjoying, but I haven't really explored the sounds beyond that. That's the first group either K- or J-Pop that I wish I could have been a member of!
