Everyone stereotypes musical and non-musical theatre as gay, but does anyone here have a favorite actually LGBT production? Personally, Fun Home is my favorite musical that's centered around being gay, but there's others that just have gay characters. Kurt and Ram's dads in Heathers are a good comedic relief, and Collins and Angel in Rent are good for if you want to cry.

RENT is amazing. If you want the dark version, there's a play I really enjoyed reading called Angels in America. It's a two-parter and is basically RENT minus music and any joy. It's just a bunch of sad people in NYC dieing of AIDS/HIV and trying to figure out their sexuality.

A good laugh is The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde. None of the characters are portrayed as gay but Wilde was. He wrote this play while being sued by the father of a guy he'd had sex with. The play is basically saying to the father, "screw you, he loved it". Read between the lines, it's great. (Bonus trivia: Wilde won the case but in the process admitted to his sexuality, so he was arrested anyways.)
