The first Sinister is the only horror movie that creeped me the hell out, lol. It's not really "scary" but more so disturbing with the clips of the children killing their family. The Conjuring and Insidious 1/2 are also decent.

I'm not a scary movie fan. I hadn't watched one in years until my roommate sort of helped me through it. We watched The Babadook, quite terrifying. I really enjoyed the deeper meaning of the whole film.

Recently I've liked Cabin in the woods and an Asian movie branded in America as Rigor Mortis.

I've been told by more seasoned scary movie watchers that it's not that scary but The Woman in Black I found pretty frightening.

You can never go wrong with the classics, like Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc. Those are more for the 80's fanatics. One I recently saw that was pretty exhilarating and intense was called Hush. It's on Netflix I think it was a really good film. It's about this woman who is a deaf book writer, she lives alone in this beautiful house in the woods far from civilization; when one day her passing friend came along for a visit, and when she'd left she was attacked by a wandering hunter of sorts. Which to me, is the only hole in the story; like this random dude is just going into the woods killing people for no reason? Odd. But he then begins to prey on the woman, and it's just a really creative plot. Totally opposite from the overrated supernatural garbage they got today. I'd definitely recommend it to those who are fans of good old fashioned slasher films.

Thanks anyone for the suggestions so far,I'll watch every movie I haven't seen.do you have any choices on psychological thrillers like movies that mess you up with the plot and not with jumpscares and stuff like that. Also movies that make you question about life, what's real or not, what's our purpose like inception, matrix, shutter island, devils advocate are welcomed as well.

As has been said above ... definitely watch Sinister. I embarrassingly enough threw my tea cup in the air during a scene. Shit went everyyyyywhere.

If you're after some really weird nightmarish psychological stuff look into Begotten, Eraserhead & Pi.

    That should do you.

More thrillerish than pure horror, but I thought Oculus and Babadook were alright. I also really like Disturbia.

More of a thriller/suspense because it wasn't scary, but Hush was a really good movie. The kind I could watch over and over because the characterization, story, and visuals were interesting to me

There was a movie I watched that I cant remember what it's called about a group of people and an archaeologist who go into the catacombs under Paris. It was scary as fuck, with a lot of gore and creepy stuff, but it was good I guess. Don't watch it if you're claustrophobic though.

I haven't seen it but I googled and it sounds like it might be As Above, So Below?

"When a team of explorers ventures into the catacombs that lie beneath the streets of Paris, they uncover the dark secret that lies within this city of the dead."

I'll probs watch this one it sounds sweet

There's also a movie called Catacombs that deals with the catacombs in Paris. Watched a bit of it a few years ago and it seemed pretty decent.
