And not ones that you have the hots for. As in characters you look up to and regard as role models.
I thought about this once I had finished assassination classroom (which I really wanna rewatch even though I only just finished it), and came out honestly admiring Nagisa so much. I have the hots for a lot of anime characters if you haven't noticed, but nagisa shiota is the only one I truly look up to.

So which characters do you look up to? All media are allowed, books, cartoons, films, whatever.

Samwise Gamgee has always stood out to me as the ultimate friend.

YOU WATCH ASSCLASS TOO?? Like, there are so few people I know that actually know it exists wow. I fucking love that show. Nagisa is amazing, but my really favourite character is Koro Sensei, I guess because I really haven't had great teachers in my life. Karma is cool too, but not exactly a role model

There are loads of other fictional characters that I admire. I'll just list a few off the top of my head: Tony Stark (Iron Man), Charlie Eppes (Numb3rs), Ash Ketchum (Pokemon), Robin (Teen Titans), the entire Enterprise Crew (Star Trek TOS).

I bet there are more, I just can't think of them now.

Veronica Sawyer from Heathers , especially the one in the musical, is the first character I thought of. We've gone through nearly identical situations (abuse from an emotionally abusive boyfriend who acted out violence towards others, isolation from others, etc.), so seeing a character who stills comes out okay and genuinely wants to make things better to the people who were hurt in the process is really nice.

There's also Ellie from The Last of Us, and Jillian Holtzmann from Ghostbusters.

I would say Kirito from SAO because of how determined he is and how he never gives up.

Cynthia from Pokémon DP/Platinum, Veronica from New Vegas, I've mentioned them both on similar threads in the past. There's probably more but I have the memory and attention span of a senile goldfish...

Guts from Berserk. He is the epitome of a survivor. He doesn't give up, despite being chased by hell. I think he pretends to be a jerk in order to keep people at a distance

Light Yagami from Death Note. It is possible to admire a character without agreeing with all of their actions. He could've executed his plans in a more effective way. He was my fave character in the show

I could go on for quite some time. I don't really look up to anyone. I just admire certain elements of personalities

Nanba Mutta and Brian Jay from the anime Space brothers. Mutta in particular taught me to dream and to never give up as you don't know when they might come true. Brian is just full of inspiration with what he says and what he did and there is one particular quote I just love which just reinstates that you should never give up.

(Also I love assassination classroom. The ending was so bittersweet and I loved the ISS hijack episode.)

I haven't yet watched the 2016 Berserk anime. People complain about it being disturbing, so I really want to watch it sometime. I'm in the process of finishing Tokyo Ghoul (ABOUT TIME)

I read the Berserk manga and watched the 90s anime

Yeah, the new series does have it's faults, and the digibro episode on it covers them nicely, so it'should wor the watching. But in summary, it'seems kinda poorly directed, the cg is worse than... I don't know but it looks crap, but who cares, we'll watch it anyway, it's berserk.

Apologies for the typos (new phone, autocorrect), corrected post above.

Harper McIntyre from The 100. She was alone and tortured multiple times, kept prisoner in a tiny cage and almost choked to death, but she rose to protect her friends in the end. She is a reaccuring character, but to me, she is the strongest of them all. I admire her so much ^^

Lucy pevensie from narnia, because she never doubts in ehat she believes and never wavers from her path. She is the most gentle, but at the same time the bravest one of the pevensies while she still preserves her childhood innocense. And allthough noone ever listenes to what she sais she never gets mad at her siblings and stays strong.

Himura Kenshin. His determination to be good and protect people is great. He's also a survivor of very traumatic events and his atonement is moving.
