(I know this has already been done, but I didn't see it so I might as well start a new one. I don't mean to be a thread thief. )

Basically the title said it all. What are some song covers that you think are better than the original?

Ex. Personally, I like the Motörhead cover of Hellraiser better than the original. (original by Black Sabbath) Love them both though! :eusa_danc

Dr John's - "Season of the Witch" Don't remember but it sucks.

Metallica - "Whiskey in the Jar" Thin Lizzy original

Adrenaline Mob with Lizzy Hail - "Come Undone" Forget who did it first
    - "The Mob Rules" Dio fronted Blacksabbath, though I like both

Disturbed - "Sound of Silence" not better than Simon and Garfunkel, but solid
    - "Land of Confusion" again not better than Genesis, but still solid

Korn - "Kidnap the Sandy Clawz" Yes its from A Nightmare before Christmas and yes it is awesome, don't judge me.

Cory Taylor did an awesome cover of "Rainbow in the Dark" Along with Anthrax covering "Neon Knights" both Dio songs that are on a tribute album. Not better, but for a tribute they nailed it, I think.

Johnny Cash "Hurt"; Originally by Nine Inch Nails

Icon and the Black Roses "Running up that hill"; Originally by Kate Bush

Katatonia "Nightmares by the sea"; Originally by Jeff Buckley

The Birthday Massacre "Open your heart"; Originally by Madonna

Ascension of the Watchers "Sounds of Silence"; Originally by Simon and Garfunkel. I love the original as well.

Six Feet Under "Back in Black"; Originally by AC/DC. They did a lot of AC/DC covers, and I just don't care for AC/DC at all.

Type O Negative "Summer Breeze"; Originally by Seals and Crofts

HIM "(Don't fear) The Reaper"; Originally by Blue Oyster Cult. Both are very good songs, I just prefer HIM's version as it feels darker which is more of my style.

    Johnny Cash's "Hurt" is great!

Also the spanish version of "Whiter Shade of Pale" by Procol Harum. It's called "Con su blanca palidez" by Donato y Estanafo

I enjoy "There is a Light and It Never Goes Out" by Noel Gallagher instead of The Smiths/Morrisey

Oh! Iron & Wine's "Such Great Heights" is *significantly* better than the original by The Postal Service

And last one: Disturbed's "Sound of Silence" although I do also enjoy the original. Can't really go wrong with that song!

I have many that I can't think of right now, so I'll just name one:

George Blagden's cover of "I Will Follow You Into The Dark". It's so good! I think the original is by Death Cab For Cutie (???) or something...
