Isis did fairly well in the competition, actually. She made it to the final five or six I think..

 

Actually, she was the 4th/5th eliminated. (Same week, but Hannah was eliminated outside the panel for failing a challenge).

I never watch ANTM, but it doesn't surprise me to see Tyra of all people break down that wall. Good for her.

 

I saw a couple of these episodes when they originally aired. I loved that she was given a chance despite the unconventionality.

It also reminds me how ignorant people are... My friend saw this and said it was "creepy" because Isis was a "chick with a dick." Ugh.

^Tyra has two shows to operate, and she knows what most of her viewers want. Of course Isis is an interesting person in the other areas of her life, but obviously the part that was the cause of the most controversy and that would get the most people talking was her gender identity. Besides, the particular episode was about her part on ANTM, not her entire life, and it's pretty obvious what the "big issue" was while she was on.

I would also like to toss in a huge apology for the south on behalf of that one embarrassing girl sitting next to her. There most certainly are gay and transsexual people in the south, and while I fully intend to move away at some point, not all of us leave. She had no idea what she was talking about.
