I may be getting a car next year and I want to start researching about it. There are many different used cars in my mind but these are the five i am looking at. 2005 Toyota Camry LE 2007 Toyota Camry SE V6 2007 Saturn Aura V6 2007 Chevrolet Malibu I4 2008 Honda Civic DX My mom has an 09 Camry LE and its a good car, but I think the other ones are better or good value or both. I will post the Yahoo Autos links later.

I used to work at a Honda dealership and for the value I would go with a Toyota or Honda. Also the Honda Civic DX does not have radio or A/C. I would look at a Civic LX.
Out of your choices, I'd go with Toyota. Honda is OK, but I've always found them to have a certain cheap feel inside. Both are reliable and rather inexpensive to repair. If you get the V6 Camry, remember to change your oil every 3K. The engines are prone to sludging.
Personally I would go with the Saturn Aura or Chevrolet Malibu as both a good cars. American cars have improved a lot over the past 10 years, and the big three do build some really good cars. The other upside is that it is easier to find a good deal on an American car. The Japanese makes know they have a good reputation and use that to keep the prices higher.
I was going to sa, AC is only useful about 4 days of the year and then, why don't you just roll down the windows... Then I realized that most people use it much more then that. Consumer Reports shows that Toyota is tried and true in terms of efficiency and quality... I would go with either Toyota myself.
It's really up to you of course but here are my two cents: -Malibu=rubbish rental car -Camry=nice, but a tad big and everyone has one I'd say the best bet is the Civic. THAT BEING SAID: If you've got a year, Ford is coming out with the award-winning Fiesta comes stateside early 2010: http://www.fordvehicles.com/2011fiesta/ Interior: The Fiesta is already on sale in Europe, where it's been getting rave reviews. It's expected to go for around 12$k to about 16$k with Sedan, and Hatch body style available. The Fiesta is comparable to the Fit in size, so if you want to go American but not comprimise in quality, then this is the way to go. Thoughts? Hope this helped. (*hug*)
I decided that I am going to get the Aura, so I am going to call in and see if the dealership can hold it for at least six months, and thats when the down payment and everything else comes in. My parents are paying for part of it.
I am sorry to burst your bubble but no dealer will hold a car for 6 months on the lot for you. First of all if its a used car they will not hold it that long because the longer they hold the car on the lot the more the value depreciates. In addition they would not want to hold a car on their lot because it would take up too much space. When you have your money together and are ready to pull the trigger then you should start looking around.
Yeah don't worry, General Motors built hundreds of thousands of them. There will be another one when you are ready to buy. Honest for you first car, I'd recommend guy spends 4 or 5 grand on an older, but reliable car. Insurance is very expensive for a new driver and full coverage even more so.
absolutely agree. I wouldn't buy a newer model car yet, save that as a graduation present. BUT, it's your decision.
If you wait, you'll probably find something with low miles, more features for a reduced price. At at least that's what I found when I purchased my Falcon.
