A recent discussion between a friend and me on this subject gave me the impetus to poll the collective on the contentious aesthetic subject of modern art.

The Modernist mantra was "make it new!". Do you enjoy modern or contemporary art? If so, what are some examples of what you like? What, conversely, is completely off-putting to you?

At what point does modern/contemporary art go so far beyond traditional senses of "art" that it ceases to be art? At what point does a modern artist become a charlatan? Is the be-all-end-all of painting photo-realism and thence pastiche? Is contemporary music that contains no discernible tonality or melody "music"?

Sorry for the barrage of questions, but I post them as they come to me. Feel free to answer just one.
