I love sad songs, especially when i AM sad, suprisingly, they make me feel better.

    Does anyone have any recommendations?

All work by Trees of Eternity, Swallow the Sun, most of Evanescence, some Korn, some Nirvana...

Sample Trees of Eternity songs include A Million Tears, Black Ocean, etc...

This is one of my favorites from them, and if you take into account the back story behind the song; it's was more tragic and hauntingly beautiful. I believe Kyo, the vocalist, always cries when they do this live as well.

Cold little heart - Michael Kiwanuka

This song is so slow and haunting and has made me tear up before but its so beautiful I'd recommend his entire album (Love & Hate)

There's a musical I used to listen to called "Dolls of New Albion" and while most of it is pretty sad, there's this one line in one of the songs that really guts me every time I hear it.

The song is about how the protagonist of the second act discovers a trunk in the attic of the family house that is filled with objects of grief and regret that have been put there by his ancestors.

The line in specific goes like this:
"The old trunk in the attic
with a dress for a child, but hardly worn
stained with the memories and tears for a name you'll never learn."

You can find it right here.

It has its flaws, but it paints a really interesting story and I've always wanted to stage an actual performance of it.

    Beautiful by Eminem

This song is about a rut that Eminem finds himself in. It is a really great listen.

I have been listening to this non-stop the past few days. I don't know if it's sad enough but maybe?

Otherwise, there's always Hear you me by Jimmy Eat World
