I wish to remove DRMs (digital rights management) from my music files, which are in the format of Protected AAC Audio Files. I am using a Mac with iTunes version 8.1.1 and I know that iMovie HD can be used to remove DRMs, but I only have iMove 8.0.1. Does anyone know how I can remove DRMs from my music? I know that I can do it by burning CDs and then re-importing them, but I'm only going to do that as a last resort.
Well, I wasn't sure whether is was illegal or not, so that answers my unasked question. I just found a feature in iTunes that will do it for me at 30 cents a song, so I think that's what I'll do. Thanks to those who answered. No, it's just that this is the fourth computer I have authorized them for, and I am just thinking about the future.
iTunes will be releasing the new version that lets you authorize more than one computer soon. I believe I heard somewhere it'll be mid June?
And this is why I for one stand up for fair use in copyright law, and think legislation like the DMCA is a pile of rubbish. Paying 30 cents a song to be able to use music you purchased. Good grief. Give this a shot? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FairPlay#Requiem
Yeah. the DMCA was one of the most destructive legislations ever in terms of digital rights. It's a serious affront to "Pursuit of Happiness", and an obvious statement that the government is in bed with "big business" and not representing the people. It's bull:***:
I dont want to say to do anything illegal, but if you wish to remove them for free, use the instructions in this video that I found here
