Okay so Green Day was talking about how they were gonna go back to their punk roots with their new album. Has anyone heard it yet? I have. It's atrocious to say the very least. It's more of the mainstream, glammy, American Idiot-esque crap. Seriously I think it's the worst album I've heard since Drowning Pool's "Desensitized". What bothers me more than anything is the lyrics. It seems that in quite a few of the songs the lyrical matter consists of Billy Joe repeating the same line over and over while sometimes swapping a few words or Billy Joe doing that "Oh-ay-oh-woh" nonsense. Am I just being too picky or does anyone else share my views?

Green day was never punk. Pop punk maybe. Im not expecting anything special at all. Theyre just going to try to repeat their comercial success like they had with American Idiot.

btw: Punk = rancid, bad religion, bouncing souls, NOFX, sex pistols, etc.

The second Green Day signed to Reprise was they day they stopped being punk.

My 2c: It's rubbish. The songs on the new album sound like rejects from American Idiot, which was terrible.
Green Day haven't made an album worth listening to since Warning.

Today we ordered tickets for their concert here later this year! I'm excited:grin:

  9. It surpasses American Idiot by a long shot imo.

I think my favorite is Peacemaker.

Just like to point out the "peacemaker" is also a fleetwood mac song. Please don't shoot the hippie, just saying that I prefer fleetwood to greenday by about 3 curdles of the universe!
