Does anyone else have a thing for old movies?
I mean, I love modern movies like crazy, but old movies just tend to blow me away sometimes (No Pun Intended). I mean black and white ones, 70's movies and such, I just have a strange obsession with them. People don't seem to understand.

Old monster movies are BEASTING! No matter how bad they really are. The original Godzilla and King Kong are so amazing... though IMO, King Kong wins.

Ah, Sunset Blvd. is another amazing one.

    Omgomgomgomgomg yes I dooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

    See how excited I get?

1956 - The Bad Seed. About an 8 year old girl who is a serial killer, and when her mother finds out is faced with the moral obligation of what to do. It is VERY good. Not bloody or gory, but about 100x more creepy, scary and psychologically thrilling. You can watch the whole thing on youtube too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyFr4g23u4w

The Creature from the Black Lagoon

    Wolfman (1941)

    Twilight Zone series!

Shadow of a Doubt (alfred hitchcock)
    Psycho (hitchchock)
    Rebecca (hitchcock)
    Vertigo (hitchcock)
The man who knew too much (hitchcock)
    Strangers on a train (hitchcock)

The Haunting (old black and white version)

Taxi Driver isn't an old movie xD It's an AMAZING film. but its definitely not old :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I hate when people say they can't watch a film because "It's too old" or "It's in Black and White"

Like, I really don't get it.

    Also, Hitchcock <3

Any Vincent Price horror film too <3 (House on the Haunted Hill )

I just love film in general. SO MUCH.

The Blue Lagoon... wow. I've seen the film... twice I believe.
    I won't lie, if you're gay, it's hot.
If you are bisexual, it's an orgasm served on a silver platter.

    But I enjoy it.

My all time favorite film "The Poseidon Adventure" (1972)

I LOVE The Poseidon Adventure. The new remake? not so much. Thats another thing. I despise crappy remakes, few are good. And usually those few are so good that the originals are overshadowed (Like John Carpenters 1980 The Thing, although supposedly it was only adapted from the short story the original The Thing From Another World also adapted from, therefore making it a non-remake)

    THANK YOU!
The remake, IMO, isn't as horrid as people point it out to be, it's entertaining, but could have been much more. I certainly don't consider that as one of my favorite films, remakes, or anything of the like, but I remember being fairly entertained and pissed at the same moment. What a feeling. :tantrum::slight_smile:

A bit like the Psycho remake by Gus Van Sant. What the bloody shiz was that? The only remake I've seen that followed the original a bit to close. Shot-For-Shot remake.

As for Romeo and Juliet, I LOVE that film. The party scene is one of my favorite scenes from any film.

Well i never said I hated Poseidon, but i mean, damn it had freakin Fergie in it xD

Also, if you want to see an amazing shot for shot remake. Watch Funny Games. The original came out in 1997 in Austria I think? So it was in German, The same Director Michael Haneke made a shot for shot remake 10 years later in America (ironically on Long Island :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:), it is one of the few remakes that is just pure awesome. Awesomely crazy film too  pretty disturbing though :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

That film reminds me SO much of The Strangers.

Gotta love the Duke and his history.

Many People say that The Strangers totally ripped off on Funny Games, I'm not too sure, but there are definitely some elements taken from it I think. But Funny Games is way better. WAY better. I enjoyed The Strangers though, Except for the ending.

On Topic, I was watching the original 1949 Mighty Joe Young the other night, it was awesome!

I don't think Strangers ripped it off, I just think the two had plots that were similar. That's all. I mean other than the plot, there isn't much similarity.

And while we are on great films, let us see the greatest, if not greatest, scene in film history. Not only is it creepy as heck, it ends with one of the greatest movie lines EVER! Nothing better than a crazy actress.

This thread is too much for me xD It'll take hours away from my life just because I get to talk about movies, so I'll keep that to a minimum xD
