Songs you love from genres you hate

    Perhaps hate is too strong of a word, but what are some songs or artists you like from genres you normally can't stand? What about them makes them different?

    I generally can't stand ska, but I recently found out that No Doubt was ska, so I suppose I don't hate all ska. I mean, really, who can hate No Doubt?

    I also don't like emo at all, but I do like 30 Seconds to Mars, especially their songs Attack and Kings and Queens. Something about Jared Leto's voice makes me able to listen to it, and their drummer is pretty good too.

    I also can't stand country or southern, rock, but Ramblin' Man by the Allman Brothers Band is a notable exception. I guess the fact that there isn't a strong Southern accent in that song makes me able to enjoy it.

    By the way, if you disagree about someone's statement that X artist or X song is in Y genre of music, feel free to disagree with them, but please don't let it turn into an argument.

    I hate nothing. I listen to every genre of music. Its certain artists i cant stand.

    Country. I just dont like it. Its the whole Country "vibe" to someones voice that makes me want to turn it off after one song. I just get bored/annoyed by it.

    Although I despise most rap for being sexist, homophobic, and just lacking any artistic merit whatsoever, I like "Gangsta's Paradise" and some Public Enemy.

    I despise rap (they left the c off the word, people), but some of Public Enemy's stuff is actually not that bad.

    And don't talk smack about country music, people - that's like my favorite genre of music :grin:

    I second that. Most RnB/Hip-Hop/New Jack Swing in the 90s deserves a lot of credibility(The Fugees, Faith Evans, SWV, B.I.G, Tupac, Janet Jackson, ect).

    I also have this thing for Amerie, but I think thats the only true post-2000s RnB artist that I listen to on a daily basis. Not that I hold any contempt for RnB or anything, but smite that damn Auto-tune.

    Oh and I also like one Nickelback song. Go away.
