All joking aside, I think there might be something to this... As Elton says, Jesus was compassionate, understanding, forgiving and tolerant. He never married right through to age 33 (which is I believe when he died), and there's no account of any girlfriends. The closest girl to him was a hooker who he pitied, and he spent an awful lot of time around "the guys". And he didn't waste any of his time putting down homosexuals - was that implicit approval? I think I might use this tidbit of revelation in coming out to my hyper-religious parents - "But Mom, even Jesus was gay! I know 'cause Elton told me so!" That oughtta fly like a lead balloon...

I love Elton John, but seriously? That is SO unrelated. Why would Jesus be more gay or more straight simply because he can forgive people?! To me, it just sounds like a weak attempt at "hurting" a religious icon to shock people. And why would anyone of us want Jesus to be gay, "LOL", come on!
I think elton john said it because he knew it would get him attention. He is a great musician... but a great thinker, scholar, or speaker, he is not.
I think someone should send this interview to our friends at the Westborough Baptist Church. If we're lucky, we might get some Elton John remix a la Poker Face deal they did with Lady Gaga.

not quite sure where elton has got this idea from! Is he saying just coz Jesus was forgiving that he was gay?! Surely not... Personally i don't think it matters whether he was or not, its what he did which was important. And the reason he had no wife or girlfriend is probably because he was spending so much time on being the son of god and committing miracles i mean how would a wife have taken it: 'Jesus, why are you home late again?! I told you dinner was at 6' 'Ahh sorry i was healing someone of their blindness...' 'Oh so is healing someones blindness more important than our marriage?!'
Ok, i just want to state that my dream last night about gay Jesus was not inspired by this thread, I was asleep before it was posted. But it is an eerie coincidence.
there is a biblical book *the secret gospel of mark, i think* that scholars have said contains homoerotic overtones, when jesus initiating another man. But I still think elton said it to be controversial. whenever he slips off the celeb tabloid charts, he says something to offend people, or does something outragious to get talked about. he is a total dramaslut.
