I think it would be fun to have a thread just for posting limericks, poems, little silly thoughts in all forms to entertain each other. If you like it, please post and no criticisms should be expected for your free, funny, sad, happy, whatever thoughts. I'll start with a series of little limericks written on a lark when I had breaks during work a long time ago. It is meant to be funny, even the savage parts. Please take no offense at any part of this. None is intended.

    "Wonderland"

On a soft green world in space,
live the spawn of an unreasonable race.
    With no solution
    to social pollution
they threatened the peace of the place.

    Limitied by miniscule minds
they counted in only their kind
    So closing their borders
    with fero-cious orders,
themselves to war they did bind.

By day and by night they did fight
and together a world they did blight.
    Life was their target
    just meat for the market
they killed their own children for spite.

The powers that guide through the strife
and promise a much better life
    are leaders who love it
    spinning dreams people covet
just a back that's prepared for the knife.

The word Peace has an ominous sound
to those who make weapons abound,
    for de-structive devices
    have big hefty prices,
Please do keep the tensions around.

Vengeance is mine sez the lord,
    to mine do nothing untoward
but as long as I bless it
    no need to confess it
a libation to me this blood poured.

In desert lands they do pray
to God three times every day,
    the faith's defenders
    in pious surrender
    all others regardless they slay.

Some say Labor's the source of all Wealth,
with obedience for good social health
    The people must pay
    what they're told every day,
then robbed by their rulers with stealth.

Money's the root of all sin,
but without it you'll never get in
    To a good social set
    so go deep into debt,
you can solve all your problems with gin.

Some find peace in a chemical vice
and claim drugs are really quite nice.
    Don't be annoyed
when their mind is a void
all life's just a roll of the dice.

Some play love as a wonderful game
and at scoring find glorious fame.
    But when big blue eyes
    hide a lethal surprise,
only a tombstone remembers their name.

The mother of all life is the ocean
    seething with primordial motion,
    What's dumped in this glory
    a most obnoxious story
she'll end up a poisonous potion.

:roflmao:    :eusa_naug  :bang: :tears: :roflmao:

This thread did not go over well, so I'll add to it myself and for myself.

    How about this for wisdom:

    You can pick your Friends.
And you can pick your Nose.
But you can't pick your Friend's nose.

Now is that wisdom or what?

I don't understand why everybody is worried about the world ending in 2012 just because the Mayan calendar ends then.

The calendar on my wall shows that the world ends on December 31, 2010 and that is only ten months away.

    I don't get it :confused2:

I don't know how the world is going to end for sure, but I am just more certain that it will. I checked in several different stores, and I looked at many different brands of calendars:

And They ALL END on December 31st 2010

OK, I guess Chicken Little was right. The sky is falling  :help::help::help::eek:

Think maybe the Mayans just got the date wrong?

When the world ends, do you think it will be a trending topic on twitter?? =P

Even if it is, Justin Bieber will probably still be trending more. >_>

    The Quicksilver Drake
---dedicated to all those dragons among us

Am I smoke or am I water, and have you never wondered?
Mere glimpse of me as towers fall, to be so proudly plundered
That shimmering is all you’ve seen, a dismal glittering terror
You question what has nature made, and plunge yourself toward error!

Not by sight you’d know me, while you flee down mountainside
By silvery song you’d sense me, and runaway to hide
The brightest creatures living, but we seem the murkiest dark
WILL yourself to see me now, as I rest by fire and spark

Though king you be, of splendid breed, your home is ever lost
For fear, you do, my freezing breath, and dread its killing frost
Cold I am, as you well know, and wife and children too
When found your family to be hurt, their color, palest blue

Now finally that you know me, what’s special you will see
It is not my breed of dragon that will make you wish to flee
It’s knowing that, at any time, we’re crouching next to you
Watching as your children thrive, and pondering what next to do

Loathing what we must do, to guard our royal line
Since we are all that is left, of our ancient kind
Around us now we are here, though this you cannot see
For all these here, in this place, are shape and color free

We are the Quicksilver Dragons, and fluidly may spread
Across these lands that we could rule, if we make your people dead
Not seen by you, for only we may reflect what to appear
Our shape is Not unless we choose, a form to bring it here

We are the eldest ancient breed that rose up from the dust
For endless years, all we’d need, was given as it must
Now challenged by your newborn race we fled across the sea
This kingdom here, at world’s end, our final place to be

But if you’re willing to share with us, forgive our Quicksilver ways
I promise you’ll regain your queen, and live for endless days
And peace will come between us, if you share but what you hold
Learn to be your friends, we will, no greater gift we’re told

written by the creature who is dromadus

More Silly Words revealing the great mysteries:bang:

As to the 666 thing in Biblical tradition, I honestly think it is deceptively simple. Since the number is referenced in Revelation, the latest of the Biblical gospels, much history had been completed at that point. I tend to space out whenever I see it written as 666, pointing out that these are Arabic numerals, not invented at the time Revelation was written, and not in use in Europe until about 1000.

And we are usually speaking to a modern and unenlightened American audience when we point out that numbers as we know them did not exist, let alone in Roman occupied Palestine. In Hebrew, numbers were values given to each of the 22 letters of their alphabet. If, in a Biblical context, God's chosen spoke Hebrew, (and in those early times, Jesus and his people were still seen as a sect of Judaism), then God spoke Hebrew to his people. His secrets would be in Hebrew as well. The enemy of God would obviously speak a different language; so if you extend the historical context to the alien rulers who would destroy the 2nd temple and disperse the Jews, that leaves you the Romans. And they spoke Latin.

Turning to Gematria (the mystical use of the letters of a Hebrew word to cumulatively add a value for a specific word) for a clue, you'd recognize that the enemy of God and his people would speak Latin, and in Latin some letters have numerical value as well. At least most Americans have heard of Roman Numerals. But unlike Hebrew, not all of the Latin letters have a numeric value. So if you add up the characters that do, you get I, V, X, L, C, D or 1+5+10+50+100+500 or 666. Now where the problem came in for me was that there was one more common Roman character with a numeric value: the M at 1000 (note: I know that this is simplified, but I am talking about common usage a couple thousand years ago). And that was a puzzle I worked on for years. Turns out that a Latin scholar in England turned me onto a little known fact; that in those early times they did not use the M, they used a construction for that value which is still considered valid if rare. He also sent me an image of it's use on a monument in Rome from the 1400s as a demonstration. It is a C followed by an I, followed by a backwards C, rather looking like this: ( I ) That, to make things easier, was probably adopted much later as an M, and if you look close, you can see the I ) construction looks like a D, which is half of 1000, or the accepted 500 which was probably in use at that earlier time. So 666 in gematria is the sum value of the Latin language, and of the Roman people who were the enemy of the Temple. Thus history fulfilled and forgotten.

    Oasis

I spent time in a desert oasis
Where beauty was, and love and friendship
But I could not see that then, oh hidden grace
Lost I was and cast down by a veiled evil
    A false and spiteful caring
By a night spirit from the wrong side of life
Armed with poisoned words that followed me even to there

It was hot and bright in the oasis
    People came, stayed, left, returned
Their voices a chorus of soothing balm
For injury suffered I did not yet know
In the oasis I met a holy man,
Speaker of wisdom and healer of wounds
I met laughing, smiling eyes which fled into the desert
Rescued by an angel, who needed a resurrection of his own
I met a Celtic knight who guarded me with kindness
And a giver of gifts who blessed me with a secret token
I met a general who conquered me both in war and peace
And the maker of music who guarded strange secrets
I met a brave man rising from his own tomb
I held a warrior I knew, before I ever met him
And beheld a prince who was under deadly spells
Brothers each and all who made of me a mirror, reflecting their own grace
Gone, they are and bereaved am I now.

There once was a man from Nantucket,
whoes dick was so long he could suck it.
he said with a grin, as he wiped off his chin,
"if my ear were a cunt, I would fuck it."

    ...well, you did say limmericks...

I think I will hold a wicked party before Christmas 2011. Since I won't really be able to celebrate my birthday if the world does end on December 21st.

But if it doesn't happen then... eh, I just had a wicked party anyway.
