    FUCK YEAH. A PROG THREAD!
I just recently got that Coheed and Cambria album too. It's alright. But Im into older prog like Rush, Yes, King Crimson, and Supertramp. Prog metal is badass too. I love Between The Buried and Me, Cynic, Death, and Devin Townsend. Tis' my favorite genre Prog is.

Well, until Lady Gaga ventures into the Prog genre. I doubt this thread will live that much longer

I will not let that happen. (What I meant was I won't let this thread die, not that I won't let Lady Gaga venture into the prog genre. I may actually listen to her if she did.)

Though I don't have much prog in my collection, I do enjoy it as a genre. Rush is probably my favorite prog band, and Moving Pictures is the only album I have ever bought in full that I don't regret buying in full. I also enjoy prog metal, though I enjoy it much more when there aren't traces of death metal influence in it. That said, I do enjoy Between the Buried and Me's "Mordecai," but I enjoy the latter half of that song much more than the early half. I also enjoy Mastodon (they're proggy, right?), Symphony X, and Dream Theater.

Jesus christ. Get A Farewell To Kings and Hemispheres by Rush if you can. Those are their "best" albums. Dream Theater is meh in my humble opinion. They're good but not great. And you should get Colors by BTBAM. Mordecai is on an earlier album and their earlier stuff is alright at best. AND I HAVE YET TO GET INTO MASTODON.

I do certainly enjoy "The Trees" (that's a song on Hemispheres, for those who don't know), so I may do that.

Those 2 albums are actually one album in a sense. They were supposed to be joined together into a double album, so I hear. They go well together and they're Rush's proggiest albums.

I didn't like the C&C album much. Sometimes prog sounds like they're deliberately being obtuse to keep the hoi polloi away, and frankly, I don't feel I should have to work that hard to listen to music.

But I like some Yes, King Crimson, and whatnot, so I guess I'm open to the idea.
