I think Titanic is a masterpiece. The casting is immense! Leonardo DiCaprio & Kate Winslet were born for that role! They are so wonderful together too. The music is powerful and evokes the deepest emotions within us. It usually reduces me to tears at the end – and no other movie can do that.

    What do you all think?

Gosh I can't even remember the last time I watched it. I should devote some time to watch it again soon.

But I agree, there is no doubt that it deserves the top spot (unless Cameron beat his own record with Avatar).

Titanic is a decent movie at best. And lets not talk about Avatar >_>

I like Titanic though, especially when I was younger. But there are SO many better movies (and better directors than high and mighty Cameron >_>)

I was annoyed that they killed my hottie and saved the bitchy one.
If I were Kate Winslet, I'd just scoot over a bit and let cute little Leo huddle up on the floaty thing with me. If that didn't work then I'd have to accept that to make a good movie ending, the hot guy should survive over the annoying girl.

Like Avatar, the last hour and a half is worth watching... Its unfortunate though that you have to sit through the first hour and a half to get to it. The sinking is one of the most magical moments I've ever seen in cinema history... but the dialogue *shudders*

Avatar is just a futuristic Titanic... minus the boat... and better dialogue. But it too is overrated.

There is a reason it made 1.8 billion dollars.

Honestly I really wish Northern Ireland would just drop this whole thing. I mean seriously it sank on it's first trans-atlantic trip!

THIS is how bad it's gotten:

It's a good movie, but not among one of my personal "Best Movie Ever" list.

I was 6 or 7 when it came out and I remember fighting with my mom to watch it. She wouldn't let me because she always said it was too "mature" for a first grader. Needless to say once I saw it I agreed completely.

Anywho, as I said, it's good.

Good? Yes. It's a very well done movie. Overrated? Very much so. The best? Naaaah.

My favorite movie of all time.

But I do agree with some aspects. The script isn't incredible, honestly, but the level of detail that went into making the film is incredible. The casting, make-up, sets, etc. The dialouge isn't incredible, no, but that aspect is cancelled out in my mind by everything else positive done by the film.

Titanic was the first of its kind in decades. Very few films can capture a romantic plot in a historical background well (Gone With the Wind did it, Pearl Harbor failed. Terribley.)

It's my favorite, and on my list its the 7th greatest film ever made.

I actually liked Pearl Harbor more than Titanic. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: Although it probably had something to do with the three main characters being portrayed by some of the hottest people around at the time.

You are excused for that because you were merely just distracted by them then. xD

Haha. Pearl Habor is just a disaster, terrible experince of a film. Could have been good. It's an example of how bad direction, casting, and writing outshine everything good about the film. (Which is very little, to be honest)

Haha! I seriously liked it more though. I guess I just don't have very good taste in movies then. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Titanic was impressive as far as special effects and all that effort they put into it though, I have to give it that. I just think it was a little too overrated for what it's worth.

Over rated. It's ok but no where near deserves the attention it gets.
