I found this interesting (and relatively short) quiz that tries to graph your "area" on the political spectrum. So, where exactly do EC members fall on this?

Well, I'm a leftist libertarian, totally not a neoconservative, and culturally liberal. Who'd have thought? :rolle:

The test is pretty much geared towards Americans, though. Some questions it poses are a non-issue here. Like gun rights (we just don't have those), or foreign military adventures (our army just sin't big enough for that). And no one would dare question scial security here. So I guess that gives me an extra push to the left.

However, I wonder how this fits with my plan to one day rule the world with an iron-clad fist

That's odd, because I find it to be one of the best political spectrum tests out there. The people crying of bias were probably Americans who don't realise that the American "left" is considered right-of-center in a lot of other places.

    Anyways, here we go then:

    Compass:
You are a far-left social libertarian.
    Left: 8.57, Libertarian: 5.63

Interestingly enough, depending on the test, I'm usually at least more liberal than Ghandi, and some have even labeled me more liberal than Noam Chomsky!

    ----------

    Me on the other test...

    Your political compass
    Economic Left/Right: -9.00
    Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.18

just a thought, aren't we all going to come out as at least slightly left? Since acceptance of gay rights is generally considered to be associated with the left, and presumably everyone on here is a fan of gay rights :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Agreed, and every time I take it, I usually end up in pretty much the same spot, as well.

As for the colored grid chart quiz, I got in the upper right corner of the left-libertarian square. Too lazy to paste the actual image. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

[Edit] Ah crap I effed up...basically I'm like everyone else on here :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: [/Edit]

I think the health care question was flawed because it was philosophical rather than asking about policy.

I think this quiz is better because it doesn’t try to place the results on a two dimensional grid.

You are a social progressive. You generally consider yourself a humanist first. You probably think that religion and patriotism go too far in society. You probably consider yourself to be a citizen of Earth first rather than a citizen of your country.

    Capitalist Purist/Social Capitalist score: 5
You are a Moderate Capitalist. You support an economy that is by and large a free market, but has public programs to help people who can't help themselves or need a little help. Pretty much you believe in the American economy how it currently is.

    Libertarian/Authoritarian score: 0
You are libertarian. You think that the government is making way too many unnecessary laws that are taking away our innate rights. You believe that the government's job is primarily to protect people from harming other people, but after that they should mind their own business, and if we give the government too much power in controlling our lives, it can lead to fascism.

    Pacifist/Militarist score: 2
You're a Pacifist. You are angered that the United States thinks it should dominate the world through its military force. You think that the only time war is necessary is when we are in direct danger of being attacked. You also believe the US spends way too much of its money on defense, as we can practically cut it in half and still easily defend ourselves, and use that money to fix all our economic problems.

You are a social moderate. You think the progressive movement is overall well meaning, but sometimes it goes too far. On issues like abortion and affirmative action, you see the negatives of both extremes on the issue. You probably value religion, but at the same time you think it should still stay separate from the government

    Capitalist Purist/Social Capitalist score: 9
You're a Social Capitalist, you think that, left to its own, Capitalism leaves a lot of people behind. You think that Health Care should be free to all, that the minimum wage should be raised, and that the government should provide jobs to all that are capable of having them. You likely hated the Bush tax cuts, and believe that the middle class has gotten poorer, and the rich have gotten richer over the past several years. The far extreme of social capitalism is socialism.

    Libertarian/Authoritarian score: 1

Overall, you would most likely fit into the category of Democrat
