I was browsing around on Youtube and stumbled across an album that I forgot was the first album I ever bought, and it was Eiffel 65's "Europop" album, which is vastly different from most of the music I listen to today.

So I was wondering, what was the first album you ever bought/owned?

I'm pretty sure mine was the Spice Girls. I was a six-year-old girl, it was inevitable.

This thread doesn't belong in this section but I dont give a fuck, I'm not a mod.
The first album I bought was Metallica's Master of Puppets. It was recommended by my uncle who would later be my bass instructor and mentor. I was 12 years old probably.

I love every song on this album, especially "Orion". It's still one of my favorites to this day.

First 45 (that's a 7" single record, with one side per side) - "Gonna Fly Now (Theme from "Rocky")" by Bill Conti. I was six years old.

First LP (full album) - Starflight. It was a various artists album from K-Tel. They were sort of like those "Now That's What I Call Music" albums. I mainly got it because it had my favorite song at the time on it - "Pop Muzik" by M. I was nine years old.

The first CD I bought was daft, a collection of songs by the Art of Noise. I owned it for a few months before I owned a CD player. I was nineteen then.

You still have that 45 of Bill Conti? That's pretty badass.

My Mom bought me "Hybrid Theory" for Christmas when I was 6. This is when they 1st came out and it was brand new. I played the hell out of that CD on my little CD Player, that was probably before iPods were even out lol. I still have that CD somewhere in my room but I had to buy it again after a few years of over-playing it lol.

Jesus, I'm not sure if I can even remember.

But it may have been the cassette of this album.

Yeah. >_> May have been something else though. I just remember that cassette distinctively.

No, but funny story on what became of it.

My brother and I ended up both being music fiends, and we both spent quite a bit of our meager allowances on records. A few years after buying that 45, I somehow cracked it. Maybe I stepped on it. But whatever it was, it developed a crack that ran from the center hole all the way to the outer edge. It still held its shape, and you could still play it, but you'd have to ensure that the two "sides" of the crack were aligned, and even then, there'd be a quiet "pop" each time the needle hit that spot.

Eventually, the box we kept our records in got too full, and we decided to get rid of some. I don't know whose idea it was to throw them off our back porch, but I'm betting it was my brother's - he's always had a bit more of a destructive/naughty streak than I did. So we took turns throwing these old 45s off the back porch like a frisbee.

Then I got to the Bill Conti 45. I took a couple steps and tossed the thing as hard as I could. It caught an updraft, and turned up on its side, gaining height. Then it plummeted back towards earth...

...and landed square on a telephone wire that ran by the back of our backyard. Right through the crack. And came to rest with the wire running through the center hole. It spun around there for a second and then came to a stop.

My brother and I stared at the thing for a few seconds, then both yelled "OH MY GOD!" It was literally a one-in-a-million shot. There was no way in the world I could duplicate that throw. That record stayed up on the telephone wire for a couple years, and we used to point it out to people when they'd come to visit. It eventually fell off, though.

The first album I've ever owned was Cher's Believe.

I was about 6 years old when I got this. I feel in love with the song Believe, so I had my mom buy me the album. Best thing ever!

Although I really wasn't that big of a fan of his; just a "little brother copy big brother" kind of thing. The first album I bought with my "own" money was 3oh!3's WANT; although I did download a lot before that.
