Gay books anyone?

I've been in the mood recently to read gay theme books xD
I'm interested in good books with decent plots and that doesn't revolve around sex scenes.

    Any suggestions?

Julie Anne Peter's book "Keeping You a Secret" is really good, though it's more for the ladies :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: It's about a high school student who realises she is a lesbian and it shows her romance with a fellow classmate and the reaction from her parents, etc. I read it in one sitting; it's pretty awesome

I was wondering about reading a book or two on the subject. I read one recently but I won't post it cause it wasn't free from sex scenes but the scenes weren't too long or heated. However it mainly focused on the issues one otter (furry themed lol) had with discovering himself and this nice wolf he met while dealing with his religion, family, and friends.

Oh! I just finished reading Hero by Perry Moore. It's about a boy name Thom who's realized he has superpowers, so he joins the League (think Justice League of DC comics). His father, a former hero, hates the League, and his mother has abandoned the family long time ago. During this time he discovers his homosexuality, so now he has to deal with hiding his membership with the League from his father and his sexuality from everyone.

It's such a good book! You totally have to check it out.

Just to add I have also been reading a lot of gay themed books recently. I'm not a big reader but I read through some really quick including:

Boy Meets Boy by David Levithan
Down to the bone by Mayra Lazara Dole
    Geography Club by Brett Hartinger

    And then:
Someday this pain will be useful to you Peter Cameron
-Not exclusively about homosexuality though, but i enjoyed it since it took place in NYC, and i live in NYC

Will Grayson, Will Grayson by David Levithan and John Green
Haven't read it yet as it's not available in the UK but John Green co-wrote it so it's bound to be awesome ^_^

So, I just found the nooks first flaw; not enough gay books :frowning2:
I found a lot though and downloaded samples of each. A density of souls looked really good, but no luck with that one.

Thanks for the suggestions and keep them coming if you find something good haha

"Sprout" by Dale Peck is amazing, one of my favourite books.
Also the Mortal Instruments series has a cool gay sub-plot so it's definitely worth checking out

A more recent bestseller is the biography "I Am Not Myself These Days," by Josh Kilmer-Purcell about when he was a drag queen and dating a male escort. He's also in that tv show The Fabulous Beekman Boys.

I was just about to go buy the Official Book Club Selection: A Memoir According to Kathy Griffin by Kathy Griffin. I know it's a not a novel or anything based around LGBT characters; however, Kathy Griffin is a very strong LGBT rights activist, so according to my friend who has read it, she mentions a lot about her love for her gays and stuff.

If you're a fan of Kathy Griffin and her comedy, check this out.

David Levithan has a couple good ones that have been mentioned.
Boy Meets Boy and Will Grayson, Will Grayson are ADORABLE books. Boy Meets Boy is just cheap fun. WG, WG, though is co-written by John Green, and he is simply amazing. The book itself is very good until the last page or so when, I believe, the characters unlearn everything they learned. Just remember, both books are FICTION. Life does not work like that. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Oh god, I love Kathy Griffin. I've been wanting to get that book for a while, I just haven't got the chance.

I don't care if I haven't read the book yet, I've watched enough of her TV show and stand-up to recommend this book, too.

For anyone with an interest in running/track, The Frontrunner, by Patricia Warren, was good. Sad, but good, I thought.
