ok, maybe everyone's seen this already but it was new to me... and an excellent arrangement as well as great choreography, as performed by UC Berkeley's "Noteworthy" male acapella group
It's great, but unfortunately, as a wind player, the first thing I thought was "they need to use their diaphragm/abs more" (because of the moving about) hah
OMG the Breaking Winds are hilarious! the Youtube description says they're from Eastman, which is one of the best conservatories in the country, but I have to agree that the bassoon performances are not the best I've ever heard, so I can't help but wonder if they are primarily players of instruments other than bassoon. Oh, and the stereotype is that most double reed instrument players are male and gay, and according to the Youtube description, all 4 of these players are women so... that would support the hypothesis. Still really fun, though!
It would be more correctly double reed players who are male are gay. In fact, at my school, out of the senior double reed players, one is straight. I've been in an orchestra with one straight woodwind player, the orchestra I'm playing in soon has one straight woodwind player I think as well and then I know a bunch more gay bassoonists. Anyway, the Breaking Winds are awesome. Great players as well. That's a pretty difficult arrangement from what I'm hearing, especially with all the choreography. But yes, the Breaking Winds is my favourite version EVER of any Lady Gaga song. Even better than the original.
I just thought of every male double reed player I know and yes... they are all gay WAIT!! Except for one... but his dad's gay... So that counts... kinda?
