Fantastic film. One quote always stands out. It's Sgt. Hans Landa Talking to the dairy farmer at the beginning. He is describing his hate for jews. Its goes something like this: If a rat came into his home; would he greet it warmly? -Probably not. But if a squirrel came into his home; would he treat it with the same hostility? They are both rodents, both equally likely to spread disease and in fact both almost look the same apart from the tail, do they not? -It's an interesting thought The point being, for no real reason, people will just hate people who have been (for whatever reason) been thought to be 'the wrong sort'. I'd thought i'd just like to bring it up. Very fitting for anyone who is prejudiced against.
I really love the character of Hans Landa. Not because he is a Nazi or anything of the sort. But because of his eloquence and his etiquette. It's mystical almost. I really love this film.
One of my favorite films of all time, personally. Almost everything about it is fantastic. Btw, it's okay to say Bastards on here.
I finally got to see this movie a few weeks ago. I gotta say, it's pretty damn good. I didn't care for Hans to much. =/ My favorite characters were the pretty actress/agent woman, and Shoshanna. They were awesome.
I think the most interesting thing about Landa is that he doesn't even seem to hate Jews (or anyone, really). He's really just a nihilist who enjoys toying with other people and sending them to their deaths and is using the war to indulge in his hobby. All the while being perfectly polite to them...
