I chose Revenge of the Sith 'cause it's so dark and it's the perfect conclusion to the saga. Also, it has, in my opinion, one of the best opening sequences.

    Couple of things.

    1. Having me choose one was difficult, but I picked Empire Strikes Back. But I love all of the original trilogy to death. They shaped my life. PRE SPECIAL EDITION BTW. FUCK THAT 1997 GEORGE LUCAS BULLLSHEEIT

    2. Why are the prequels even an option?!

Seriously. Watch them all. Both reviews (One for Revenge of the Sith is coming soon I believe). They're some of the best reviews I have ever seen, not to mention extremely hilarious. But really in depth and really true too.

EDIT: All credit goes to Jesse for introducing me to the beauty that is those reviews.

hayden christensen is an awful actor, almost as bad as jake lloyd. It might not be their fault actually, it could be lil old george lucas... They never should have let that idiot direct. He's abominable.

i went with the empire strikes back

I agree with Shevanel that the original trilogy is amazing. I chose Return of the Jedi because I actually like those little fluffy carebear things they put in it. I dont see whats wrong with them! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Two votes for Phantom Menace? Really?

I'll second the suggestion to watch the "don' make no sense" reviews. They're very lengthy, but very funny and spot-on accurate. The prequel movies just had far too many issues. Plot holes you could pilot the Falcon through. Poorly thought-out action sequences. (So Darth Maul just starts hacking away at the floor, allowing...OK, whatever.) The idea that Star Wars should and could be a political thriller (in addition to whatever else it was). Lazy (and borderline offensive) aliens. And yes, crappy acting. Sorry - Jake Lloyd was terrible. I can't help but think they shoved Jar Jar Binks in there just to keep us from noticing. He flubs at least two lines in the final print. I know "he's just a kid" but there ARE kids who can act. I don't really blame Jake Lloyd so much as Lucas, who apparently was either unable to illicit the proper performance out of him, or else decided his film was going to be so good that nobody would notice or care. Either way, he should be smacked around for that.

I went with Empire, although the first one had a much bigger effect on me. The film came out when I was seven, and I saw it three times in the theater. It's hard to explain what sort of effect it had on me...and it had an even bigger effect on most of my friends.

am the sorry bastard who picked attack of the clones, and yes I know it's got really bad acting and yes I know the plots quite boring and the scene with the animals was just stupid but just that bit where all of the clones rush into battle against all of the droids... in my opinion the coolest thing ever... but then theres the fight with dooku which was a really crappy scene, honestly they could have just slipped a tank battle in there and the bit where he says "were out of rockets sir" YOUR SHIP HAS TWO MASSIVE CANNONS ON THE SIDE OF IT USE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! even still it's still my favourite movie of the lot

I voted for "A New Hope," which I just call "Star Wars." It's a tough call between that one and "Empire Strikes Back."

The first one. Because the first time I saw it, I totally related to this scene. Intensely.

The best Star Wars, as a film, is definitely Empire strikes back for me.

However, I ended up picking New Hope, because I still think it captured my imagination the most.
Plots with "ordinary guy gets to become an intergalactic hero" never fails to make me dream. Also, it's the first introduction with the SW universe, and you can only fall in love for the first time once!

I've seen him act quite adequately in other movies, so I'll blame Lucas here. I think it was Ewan McGregor who said in an interview once that acting in front of a blue screen starting at a ping pong ball that's supposed to be an alien, and only being allowed to frown for emotions is not precisely what he expected of it.

That's what Lucas got for believing his own hype, though. For the original trilogy, he had a lot of people giving input and challenging him (Harrison Ford flat-out refused some dialogue he found unrealistic). By the prequel times, he had a team that just did everything he said. Creative vision is good, but it needs to be refined by a good team to work.
