Not to trample all over your article or anything, but I thought this was concluded a while ago? Or was it jsut a theory and now there's a bit of evidence?

It was interesting....thanks for that, I always just thought that Leonardo decided not to paint them for one reason or another...seems like I was wrong...It would be really interesting to see that super zoomed in version, especially to have that zoomed in version of the eyes as your wallpaper

I realised that it did cos we've got a huge poster of it in the Art Department....The thing I didnt realise was how small it was...Its only like A4...Its really weird to see this HUGE crowd (and Im talking like 5 metres by 15 metres or people all trying to get a photo of tihs miniature painting...I must say that although it is a good painting I personally think there are many paintings that are better/more interesting

    What?
I thought it would be a huge painting, that's a let down.

But I also have never noticed, 'till now at least, that she doesn't have eyebrows or eyelashes.

No, I like reading the articles you or your brother dig up. ^^ Reading articles is fun; I do it all the time. Watching documentaries too.

I really enjoy documentries as well....as well as the articles you (Kai) and others dig up....surprisingly one of the most interesting documentries was on how tupperware was created (like as in how the business started) and how they totally gipped the person that made it famous and how it started be sold in house parties etc....ill try ot dig up the name cos it was really interesting

Da Vinci is the painter correct?

He was a very secretive man and if i know anything about da Vinci
He knew how to paint, espically the Sexes ( gender).
I dont think anything "wore away".
I think the person who wrote that should smash their face into a wall.
    Then repeat the proccess.

    Not to be brutal :icon_wink

    lol
But seriously I think he knew what he was doing

You have to realize how 98% of all works from the renaissance are restored though, so it's nearly impossible for us to be able to see the originals as they were. The reason for this is that they weren't painted like everyone thinks (oils on canvas that is) because they didn't have either at the time. Most, if not all, of these works are an egg-based tempura in fresco that chips off incredibly easy.

In the case of the Mona Lisa, it's egg based tempura on wood. Put that through 500 years of natural time and sun fading, coupled with the fact that Da Vinci managed to smuggle it from Italy to France during a major war, and other factors and I'd be shocked if it hadn't been worn away. Tempura simply doesn't have the hold that more advanced paints do--let alone on wood.

err. not that anyone needed that long explanation as to WHY it is so possible...
