Well, I don't know about any in Europe, but here are some American ones:

The new Beverly Hills 90210 has gay characters in it, but most of the main ones are straight.

As The World Turns is a soap opera that has a gay side story in it. It got canceled early this year (late last year?), though, so I don't know if you'll be able to find it...

I haven't seen it, but Glee, perhaps?

These are all that come to mind right now (my brain's kinda fried today, and I know I have a lot more)... I'll post again if I can think of more.

Ugly Betty and Glee won't actually help "Normalize their views"

Happy Endings is probably your best bet on that. 90210 is iffy as well. XD

Most of what I'll suggest have mainly lesbians in it and are generally not found entertaining by men--at least I don't think so. I'll list them, anyway.

The L Word: Mainly about lesbians, but has bisexual, transgender, and straight main characters. Guys might like the lesbian sex scenes, but not anything else--I could be wrong. It does do a good job at portraying the characters as real people, though.

Out With Dad: A web series about a girl who is working on coming out as a lesbian. It is very well done, considering how low budget it is.

Why wouldn't Glee? With the way Glee is going with Kurt it's quite impressive and powerful I find.

Skins season 1 2 & 3 season, 3 deals with lesbians  (UK version, forget the USA version it's crap)
Torchwood (Captan Jack is Gay, and Ianto is bi)
Torchwood Children of earth (captures Jack and Ianto's love for each other pretty well with an amazing graphic sci-fy story to keep them hooked)

These series don't focus on gay issues. They are written into the scripts as if the world could care less. And IMO Skins better portrays Gay teen life than Glee because Glee's focus on Kurt is a BIG DEAL every time. Skins is pretty nonchalant about it. But I will say each character has their episode so Maxi gets his own story but is highlighted throughout the seasons as well as the other kids. Also Maxi's story is told from the point of view of a student who is already out in high school and who is equally fem and masc as well. The character is well molded. I say hit up Skins dude.

Because Kurt is pretty much every stereotype there is.

It's getting better, but let's not forget Predator Kurt with Finn.

Battlestar Galactica! (the 2003-2009 show, not the original)

Lieutenant Gaeta is apparently gay. They make no allusion to it in any of the episodes but in between seasons they released a short series of "webisodes" that fleshed out some of the side characters a little bit and it was revealed that he was gay and had a boyfriend or possibly a Mr. Hanky Panky.

Yeah, I know it is a poor example of a show with a gay character but it was probably one of the best science fiction shows of all time. (some may disagree but you must admit it was pretty damned good, despite the hokey finale)

Bisexual, actually. xD He has an affair with a female character too.

I disagree with you that it was a hokey finale, however :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Captain Jack is Omnisexual, the writers made a big thing about that.

LOL! I hope it doesn't portray teen life, I love Skins (only series 1 and 2) but I always thought it over-exxaggerated, what with the partying, drinking and drugs. But Maxxie's story was good, since his sexuality was portrayed as just as normal as all the other character's sexuality. Nothing more, nothing less.

I always thought shows where LGBT characters have other stuff going on with their lives apart from just being gay. I like Glee, but when it comes to Kurt, most of his plot lines and story just talk about him being gay, and whilst that's a big thing, you think; surely other things happen in this kid's life too?

Mentioned before; Happy Endings, Torchwood.

I think Kurt is realistic, and that's why he's a great character. What gay boy doesn't go through a period of a serious crush on a straight friend. Yes, Kurt does fit some of the stereotypes, but he has the most depth of any of the characters on it. From Kurt's denials in the first few episodes, his relationship with his father, and burgeoning romance a realistic time after coming out, it's quite a good portrayal of teen gay life.

Gaeta also isn't the best gay character
considering he kinda goes crazy and tries to mutiny.

Skins, modern family, and pretty much anything that's been running for a while and has a high turnover of characters. The ones I know of are mostly New Zealand or Australian series and I'm not sure how accessible they are overseas.

Oh, and Summer Heights High. It's very stereotypical though.

Buffy - Willow comes out of the closet in season 4.
True Blood - Lafayette is gay.
Mission Hill - There's an older gay couple on the show.
Wonderfalls - The main character's sister is a lesbian.

modern family is great, and has two gay characters but the show is not focused solely around them. Will and Grace is still one of my favourites but can be very gay at points.
