If you want to learn more about important figures in the gay rights movement, you need to watch a documentary called The Life of Harvey Milk. I watched this today and it was very moving. I knew a little about Harvey but I didn't realize what an important person he was in the movement. Harvey was the first openly gay elected city official in San Francisco. It's available from Netflix.
