The movie "Get Real" is a very heart felt coming out movie. It's British from 1998. It deals with a lot of the internal struggles that closeted gays have to deal with. This movie echoes a lot of the struggles that I'm going through living closeted in a hetro world. Please tell me if you know of other great gay themed movies. I've just started watching gay themed movies. I recently also saw: "Boy's Don't Cry" that was a moving story of a true tragic lesbian love story. A real tear jerker. "Clapham Junction" (BBC 4 movie). This is a movie about a gay 14 year old who falls in love with an older man, along with other struggles of other men. You really feel for the characters as they go through their internal struggles. "Du Er Ikke Alene (You Are Not Alone)" (1978). This is a very touching movie. It had English sub-titles. It's about young teenage love. "Tan Lines" (2006). Very well done move about two teenage boys in a homophobic community. It's a bit odd. Smukke dreng (Pretty Boy) (1993) with English sub-titles. This is very odd but a good movie. Beautiful Thing (1996) about two teenage boys that fall in love. It's a bit crude. "Death in Venice" is an early classic. Most of these movies are from Europe, so please be aware that they touch on subjects and show more nudity that is considered taboo in North America. You got to get passed the nudity and the controversial themes to see the true life struggles that happen in real life and at any age.
I saw "A Beautiful Thing" after I heard some good things about it but I thought it was really lame and annoying. =/
But I'm a Cheerleader. And a movie called Bully. I don't know the date or the director because I saw it on IFC and it's not really gay oriented. However the main character has some very homosexual related issues. It's kinda interesting...till it gets really stupid. (You only need to watch the first hour)
my boyfriend really wants to see "Get Real" thats the next movie on our list along with the german movie "Summer Storm"
Summer Storm is a beautiful film. I thought it was good. Eating out 1&2 were funny gay themed movie. I liked it Letter Days was the best gay themed movie I've saw so far If you are over 18, Short Bus is also good movie in my opinion. It's not totally gay themed but there is a gay couple in it. I really need to watch Get Real!!!
"blue gate crossing" is an awesome taiwanese film. it's about a girl who is in love with her best friend. the friend fancies a boy who likes the lesbain girl. it sounds stupid, but it's actually a really beautiful, moving film. i really recommend it!

any of you heard of "Running With Scissors"? i read the book and i loved it. the movie has been out for a while now. I REALLY wanna see it!!!!
