    X-MEN: CHOOSE YOUR SIDE

Imagine for a second, if you will, mutants being subjugated and wrongfully feared by mankind due to a simple twist of fate from birth. These mutants grow up in fear of a government looking to mark them as god's abominations. How would you react?

THE X-MEN: Want to live in a peaceful co-existence with mankind. They want peace but believe in a constant non-violent approach to attaining their goals. Birthed from the beliefs of Martin Luther King Jr.

THE BROTHERHOOD: Want to live divided yet with equal or greater power. They want peace and believe the only way to do that is through sheer force. Birthed from the beliefs of Malcolm X.

Which organization would best suit you and why?

I'd personally align myself with the Brotherhood of Mutants. Although, I'm guilty of wanting to blend in - like Mystique called Charles Xavier out on in in X-Men: First Class. I'm more of a fighter who believes in doing whatever is necessary to win one's freedom and rights. While I draw the line at actually harming others, like many of the members of the brotherhood have gone on to do - I believe that when push comes to shove there should be no boundaries on fighting for one's basic human rights. More information - I'm adopted, meaning every important record about my health and origins is in a closed file denied to me. Thus, similar to Magneto (kinda, not quite) that has effected my views towards the governmental statures of control. America's founding fathers are my heroes. I'm a Malcolm X guy.

Where would you align and why?

Figured this might be an interesting way to delve into politics, since a lot concerning LGBT rights and issues, have cropped up since we may have a homophobic president soon.

    1) Pole whore?... confused...

    2) Whatever goes. But basically the universe is already a large metaphor for the LGBT community.

I was thinking along the same lines, but then I wondered what if the general public/those in power just refuse to create this mutual understanding. If they were in such a mind frame, just being nice and saying that we could live together would get the community nowhere. At such a point, I think more extreme measures might possibly be necessary. Thusly, I chose Brotherhood.

If they refuse, they refuse. Fighting will only confirm their suspicions. Besides, I'm a pacifist. I'm definitely an X-man.

... and for my power I choose "Mind Transference" - I can transfer my mind into several nearby individuals, each believing to be the real me... just because I'd like to imagine the really weird situations this could spawn. XD

    Brotherhood for me.

While I believe that being civil and peaceful has it's place, I think force also has it's place; sometimes you HAVE to actively fight for yourself, especially if it becomes a Kill or Be Killed situation. It'd be nice to think that it wouldn't come down to that, but history has demonstrated that it can and has come to that in the past between various groups of people.

War sucks. Fighting sucks. Hurting people sucks. But sometimes it is necessary to not only NOT turn the other cheek, but to slap the shit out of THEIR cheek in return.

This song says it all for me:

Two men walked on the beach in the sun.
One left footprints, the other left none.
    One was a man who no man obeys;
The other a god from the ancient days.
"Look," said the man, "how my kind make war.
I summonned you here to ask what for."
"For wealth or land," the god replies,
"For life, or freedom, or some king's lies."

The sun is also a warrior.
    Knowledge can also destroy.
    Nor can the kindest will,
    Preserve you from the kill.
Not all of wisdom brings joy.

"Four of those five," the first one said,
"Are not enough to appease the dead.
To save my world all this strife must cease,
So now I bid you to conjure peace."
The god said "Yes. Though it grieves me sore,
For I was also a god of war,
And I remember what you forget,
Four of those five you may still regret."

The sun is also a warrior.
    Knowledge can also destroy.
    Nor can the kindest will,
    Preserve you from the kill.
Not all of wisdom brings joy.

He raised his voice and he raised his hand.
All strife stopped at the god's command.
No voice ventured an angry word,
No hand struck and no weapon stirred.
In time, the man called the old god back.
"Look," he cried, "what my people lack!
One lord rules over all the earth,
And we're all his slaves from the hour of birth."

The sun is also a warrior.
    Knowledge can also destroy.
    Nor can the kindest will,
    Preserve you from the kill.
Not all of wisdom brings joy.

"Look, he owns all wealth, and he owns all land,
We starve and die under his command.
He speaks the truth and he gives us peace,
But all that I hope for is our release."
The old god said, "This is what you willed.
For only thus is your wish fulfilled.
War's five sources I took away,
Yet I will give four of them back today."

The sun is also a warrior.
    Knowledge can also destroy.
    Nor can the kindest will,
    Preserve you from the kill.
Not all of wisdom brings joy.

He raised his hand and his voice once more,
And all the world overturned in war.
And when the last of those fires let fall,
There was no lord in the world at all.
"Go rebuild now," the old god said,
"Feed the living and bury the dead,
And remember this when you speak of war,
And think upon what is worth fighting for."

The sun is also a warrior.
    Knowledge can also destroy.
    Nor can the kindest will,
    Preserve you from the kill.
Not all of wisdom brings joy.

Poll whore, a choice that is very out of topic.
    example:
    Where would you align?
    The X-Men
    The Brotherhood
    Poll Whore!

    xD

Unsure how it's out of topic since it's choosing your side, which those are the two sides...

    Anyways, another song to add:

Make it Stop (September's Children) Rise against

    Woah, woah.

Bang, bang go the coffin nails, like a breath exhaled,
    Then gone forever.
It seems like just yesterday, how did I miss the red flags raised?
Think back to the days we laughed.
We braved these bitter storms together.
Brought to his knees he cried,
But on his feet he died.

What God would damn a heart?
And what God drove us apart?

What God could make it stop?
    Let this end.
Eighteen years pushed to the ledge.
    It's come to this,
    A weightless step.
    On the way down singing,
    Woah, woah.

Bang, bang from the closet walls,
    The schoolhouse halls,
    The shotgun's loaded.
Push me and I'll push back.
    I'm done asking, I demand.

    From a nation under God,
I feel its love like a cattle prod.
Born free, but still they hate.
Born me, no I can't change.

It's always darkest just before the dawn.
So stay awake with me, let's prove them wrong.

    Make it stop.
    Let this end,
Eighteen years pushed to the ledge.
    It's come to this,
    A weightless step.
    On the way down singing,
    Woah, woah.

The cold river washed him away,
    But how could we forget?
The gatherings hold candles, but not their tongues.

And too much blood has flown from the wrists,
Of the children shamed for those they chose to kiss.
Who will rise to stop the blood?

    We're calling for,
Insisting on, a different beat, yeah.
    A brand new song.

    Whoa, whoa
    Tyler Clementi, age 18.
    Billy Lucas, age 15.
    Harrison Chase Brown, age 15
    Cody J. Barker, age 17
    Seth Walsh, age 13.

    Make it stop,
    Let this end.
This life chose me, I'm not lost in sin.
But proud I stand of who I am,
I plan to go on living.

    Make it stop,
    Let this end,
All these years pushed to the ledge,
But proud I stand, of who I am,
I plan to go on living!

All the names listed are gay guys who committed suicide due to the pressures from their peers. I'd say homophobia has taken a lot of victims. And adding a possibly homophobic president next? I can't see how that couldn't effect people after all the progress that's been made these past couple of years. To me, that's a call to action. I'm not gay, I'll probably marry a girl, but it's - human rights and the declaration of independence declaring that all men are created equal matters. We can't lose that.

I'd be with the X-men. I definitely believe in peaceful cooperation and severely disagree with war or trying to solve problems with violence. Hurting people is never the answer.

The X-Men. Cyclops' and Emma's X-Men (the current team in the comics).

They're not nearly all "peace and love" like they used to be. xD

I absolutely love X-Men (well, except for that whole Wolverine fanboyism thing. No, he's not the most <whatever> Marvel character!) but were I a character in there I'd probably would end up unaligned/ sort of X-men fellow traveler, never 100% belonging or agreeing with them.

X-men all the way. I don't agree with the methods that The Brotherhood use. Besides who said that just because your a X-Men that you can't have some fun with your powers? It wouldn't stop me from causing a bit of mischief from time to time.

While I understand the X-men's point of view, I'd side with the brotherhood in that these are the facts:

mutants are hunted and harassed THEN viewed at the bad guys when they defend themselves. The X-men says: "People only fight because they fear us" I think they fight because they can get away with it.

I don't believe in how the brotherhood treat one another most of the time (though that has changed in recent years).

what magneto says makes sense: "You hit us, we hit back harder. You leave us alone and we leave you alone."

I'd like to say X-Men since Jean Grey is my favorite Marvel character but I'm going with the Brotherhood.

Xmen, because they're fighting for hope, for a chance.

My favorite's Rogue, because she's the tough one with the softie inside. Rogue longs to touch but is afraid of being touched at the same time, a very human characteristic.

Not hard to imagine. Imagine for a second, if you will, gays being subjugated and wrongfully feared by mankind due to a simple twist of fate from birth. These gays grow up in fear of a government looking to mark them as god's abominations. How would you react?

I didn't vote because I'm into a bit of both. Being overly forceful will only piss people off at them. But you can't have your group viewed as normal without making your presence known. I guess I'd go for a good old fashion "We're here, we're mutants, get used to it." approach.
