    The lyrics in question are:

    You're a bum
    You're a punk
You're an old slut on junk
Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed
    You scumbag, you maggot
    You cheap lousy faggot
    Happy Christmas your arse
I pray God it's our last

Personally I think the censoring is pathetic. It's a great Christmas song and the use of the f-word in it doesn't bother me. The whole point of that part of the song is that they are trading insults and the f-word is an insult like the rest of that section. I think the idea of censoring it actually draws attention to it more than just playing it as it should be and as it has been played every year for the last 20 years.

The vote on the news story currently shows:

What do you think? I've added a vote here too.

I'm divided. I HATE censorship, but I also hate the word faggot. But after looking at the video and the context, I don't think that the word should be edited out because it's not intended to hurt gays.

Well to be honest, yes I do think it was a drastic move by Radio One. But on the same note I guess it's good that they're thinking of the feelings of the homosexual listeners. As for the song, love it to pieces and hear it every xmas... although not sure that the lyrics make it christmassy in the slightest.

Good call on the reversal of the decision though.

I don't really like the word faggot ~ but ive used it with other gay guys in a more light hearted way ~ FAG = Fabulous And Gay =p

The word Faggot is used purely as an insult, placing it in line with scumbag and maggot. I think the main problem is that due to the age of the song, the word "faggot" is actually meant as a homosexual. So in a sense it really *is* demeaning gays.

i don't care about it being a christmas song, using a deragatory gay term is wrong. if we want people to put their foot down on the issue we can't wimp out on more 'simple' things.

I like using the word faggot. I think it was good that they tried to censor it, but its probably lost its meaning in the song because people know it too well, i've never heard it myself. >_>
