Now that the year is over (and has been for some time), what was your favorite song that come out in 2011, and what do you think was the best song that came out in 2011?

I'm going to have to give props to Evanescence for my favorite selection. Their self-titled album might just be more of the usual, but it's a usual that I love, and this was my favorite song off of it.

As for best song, it's a new prog song by a band <hipsterglasses>you've probably never heard of</hipsterglasses>. It's a masterpiece of a song; give it a listen here (it's not on YouTube).

I don't know why, because there are at least five elements I would normally dislike in a song, but Pumped Up Kicks has got to be one of my favourite songs of the year.

Just A Kiss by Lady Antebellum would be my other favourite.

I'm terrible at picking favourites, but there's a few I thoroughly enjoyed.

The Show Goes On - Lupe Fiasco I think I like this one because it uses the same beat(/samples/whatever it's called) as Float On by Modest Mouse.

Lupe Fiasco - The Show Goes On - YouTube

Arms - Christina Perri A friend showed me this song (or rather, posted it on Facebook). It's such a pretty song, and sad yet happy, and she sings beautifully (and is rather gorgeous too IMO). The video itself is quite good.

Christina Perri - Arms (Official Music Video) - YouTube

Lighters - Bad Meets Evil ft. Bruno Mars Ah, it's just so catchy. And I'm always impressed by the way Eminem raps (though, I don't like most of his solo stuff, prefer his collabs).

Let's Play - Kristina Maria I LOVE THIS SONG. Because it's sooooo hilarious. The song itself is really whorish, yet super catchy because it's like any other pop song nowadays. But the video... the video just makes it that much better (twist ending makes me laugh every time). Plus, she gets bonus points for being Canadian.

I actually looked through all the songs I had in iTunes to pick these... and I realized I don't have that many songs from 2011 that I really liked. I found a lot of songs in 2011, but are much, much older :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

EDIT: The first two won't embed :frowning2:

Absolutely beautiful song, and it's amazing live.

I agree with "Pumped up Kicks" as well. Still great live, but I personally like their stuff better in studio.

And to add a plug for one of my favorite bands, I really like almost every song on MuteMath's new album, but I'm feeling this one right now. I get to see them Friday!

2011 was pretty good for music, I really enjoyed Bon Iver's album, so 'Holocene' should get a mention:

Going to see King Creosote & Jon Hopkins on Saturday as well, always really liked King Creosote but only just got his stuff with Hopkins, sounds good though, so here's 'Bats in the Attic':

Sorry tried to get it so the video would appear but can't figure how to do it!

Her new album (Strange Mercy) is her best; every song is brilliant.
