The point is just to find things you like and either post them or if you found them on someone else's blog you reblog it.
Just make a blog about anything you want. Most people just have conglomeration blogs of everything they like.
You follow people by clicking "follow." ._.

It's basically a media sharing site. That's the best way to describe it. It's main strength is in how easy it makes it for you to share something you've found that you like. You sign up, follow people whose blogs you like by clicking the "Follow" button (usually in the top-left corner of the blog), and when you go to your Dashboard (the main page on the site), it shows you every post posted by the blogs you follow, posted in chronological order, with the most recent ones on top.

You can make original posts for your blog easily (uploading a photo or video or audio file, writing something text-based, etc.), but you can also "reblog" other people's posts so they appear on your blog, too. Tumblr automatically credits the person you reblogged it form, so it's easy to share stuff without "stealing". In fact, most personal blogs are 90-95% reblogged content, but that's not to say it gets repetitive; far from it, it allows you to see way more of the content that goes on the site without need to go scouring for it.

What you make your blog about is up to you. I myself mostly reblog things I agree with, identify with, things that make me laugh, etc. Most people's blogs seem to be like that, though some people also set up blogs based on a common theme, or a certain meme, or something like that.

And don't fret too much about naming your blog, because you can easily change the name later if you don't like it; you can even change the url if you grow unfond of that, too.

 

Im hoping to come out on tumblr, but by first making an anonymous account. How can i get my friends to see wat i post, if i am making it anonymous. I considered just explaining that i kno them and they kno me, but just want to see wat their opinons to one of their friends being gay. Help?!?

No. I haven't found any, at all. I actually haven't found much porn at all. Mostly funny pictures.

 

Omg don't get me started on tumblr >.>, anyways I'm going to warn you right now, it will get very addictive after the first month or more. Anyways I run a photo blog, and what I reblog and post are usually thought provoking images that also have aesthetic beauty and fit with the dark theme of my blog. Now if you are the kind of person that is looking for a gazillion followers, then be warned that a personal blog will probably not get you many as that's how mine started out. A personal blog is a blog where you just put anything you like tbh just for fun, but there are other types of blogs you could do such as one focusing on fashion, art or something but if you do start one of these I would recommend sticking to the theme,so no memes or anything that totally sticks out from the theme. In terms of sexuality and stuff, tumblr is really one of the only places where I am fully out and people from my school and personal life follow me there but I don't really care whether they see my about me or any personal text posts I make. So if youre planning on getting your friends to see that but not make it toooo obvious then just make an about me and link it on your theme's links. I may not be making much sense as tumblr can be complicated with html codes etc. but youll soon catch on. As for a good url name, the best ones are; not too long, make sure it doesnt have any of these "----" or any numbers in it, try a catchy word that people will remember. hmm I think thats all I have to say

on the top of the page beside the word dashboard is your blog's title, click on that and there should be on the side like one a button that says settings, click on that and yeah

 

OMG, how ironic. xD About a week and a half ago, I saw a post on my dash of a cute puppy in funny clothes and the post right under it was a naked woman in a suggestive pose on a bed. XD

Also, be careful, because Tumblr's addicting....I haven't been this addicted to a website since EC and since I first joined Facebook years ago. @_@

my friend showed me her tumblr at school and it went from sonic the hedgehog to tentacle porn and asian schoolgirls.

I was thinking about starting a tumblr blog focusing on politics and my thoughts/rants about the things going on in our world today. Also thinking about doing political cartoons but I have no idea how to start one let alone get it uploaded online.

 

You can upload images right to the Tumblr server. Once you get accustomed to the interface you'll see that the entire site is generally very user friendly.
