Anyone have any good book recommendations? I just picked up Luna by Julie Anne Peters, and I have been wanting to get more books on the subject.

    Thanks

I just looked on that author's website, and it looks like she has written some other LGBT books too

    - Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides (about a hermaphrodite; it's a really good read, I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone)

    - Keeping you a secret by Julie Anne Peters (lesbian story)

I'm currently reading "Oranges are not the only fruit" by Jeanette Winterson (also lesbian) and "Am I blue?" which is a collection of short coming out stories by several authors (really enjoying this one)

    • A Home at the End of the World by Michael Cunningham
    • My Brother and His Brother by Hakan Lindquist

    Re: Good/favorite GBLT books?

I just read 6 LGBT books in mt LGBT lit class last semester. Most of them were decent reads, even if some were a bit... risque...

Maurice - E.M. Forster / What some call the first gay novel, kind of boring really. But if you like history, have at it.
The Well of Loneliness - Radclyffe Hall / Another of the first gay novels written, but I also found it kind of dull. It can still give you a picture of what gay life was like in the 1930's and 40's.
I Am Woman - Ann Bannon / Oh my is this juicy. A welcome break from the two "neutered" novels I mentioned.
Dancer From the Dance - Andrew Holleran / Only read this book if you have the strongest of stomachs. I never thought sex could be so grotesque. But it's still fun. xD
Halfway Home - Paul Monette / Probably the best of the list IMO. Primarily AIDS oriented, but it has a lot of heart.
Oranges Are not the Only Fruit - Jeanette Winterson / Eh. I wrote an essay about how I thought this book wasn't an LGBT novel, but it's worth mentioning just because it's a good book.

So... yeah. Go forth and read.

My gf and I love the Shaken series by KG Macgregor. The first book is called Without Warning.

Glad I clicked on this thread, I've been looking for some more reading myself!

    Re: Good/favorite GBLT books?

Annie on my Mind by Nancy Garden. I just adore that book. She also wrote Good Moon Rising and Hear Us Out. All of which are fast reads and mostly oriented at teens, but still really good books.

The Bermudez Triangle by Maureen Johnson. It's just a fun, fun book.

Dare Truth or Promise by Paula Boock
Between Mom and Jo by Julie ann Peters
Girl Walking Backwards by Bett Williams
Patience and Sarah by Isabel Miller

Mercedes Lackey has a few novels that have gay characters - the Last Herald Mage series is one where the main character is gay if I remember correctly.

That's all I can think of that I've read.

The Dark Wife by Sarah Diemer (lesbian). I absolutely adore this book, especially since it's about Greek myths:slight_smile:. You can even read it for free online.

I am (sort of (allowing to colect virtual dust from not touching it enough) writing a fantasy book where two of the main characters are lesbians.

    Re: Good/favorite GBLT books?

If you're into that kind of thing, I really like this series by Nell Stark and Trinity Tam (who are partners in real life):

    Nightlife
    Nevermore
    Everafter

It's about a lesbian couple who are about to get engaged when one woman gets bitten by and turned into a vampire. The girlfriend, in an effort to save her (long story why this is the case), gets herself turned into a shifter (werepanther, to be precise). I've read all three and really enjoyed them, but I'm a sucked (no pun intended) for anything vampire-related.

"The world unseen" and "I can't think straight" by Shamim Sarif are really good lesbian-based stories. And "sing you home" by Jodi Picoult.

Amazon have a stack of them in Kindle format which can be read on a Kindle, i-device, or Android as well on a PC using the Kindle software (although the Kindle is by far the best to read from!). Pretty much everything in this thread seams to be in the
Kindle Store › Kindle eBooks › Fiction › Gay & Lesbian section (at least on the UK store.
