A rather simple cartoon produced by Filmation, which turned into an action figure juggernaut, netting Mattel nearly 1 billion dollars, and becoming one of the most successful boys action figures lines in history, and the staple in the cartoon diets of most children of the 80s.

The show takes place on the fictional planet of Eternia, a planet of magic, myth and fantasy. The lead character is Prince Adam, the young son of Eternia's rulers, King Randor and Queen Marlena.

Prince Adam is given a Power Sword, to defend his kingdom and the universe from all forms of evil, transforming him into He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe. Together with his close allies, Battle Cat (who undergoes a similar transformation from being Adam's cowardly pet tiger Cringer), The Sorceress, Teela, Man-At-Arms and Orko, He-Man uses his powers to defend Eternia from the evil forces of Skeletor.

Skeletor is the shows main antagonist, a skull faced being from another dimension who is a master of the dark arts. His goal is to conquer the mysterious fortress of Castle Grayskull, from which He-Man draws his powers. If he succeeds, Skeletor would conquer the whole of Eternia, and possibly the whole universe. Skeletor's resides at Snake Mountain, an equally mysterious rocky fortress, surrounded by a collection of bizarre creatures such as Beastman, Mer-Man, Tri-Klops, Clawful and the self serving Evil-Lyn, a powerful witch who has allied himself with the villain to gain power.

The show featured morals at the end of each episode which sought to send positive messages to children. The morals focused on many issues children face, from bullying, to stranger danger, drug use and being kind to others. During its run, it spawned a sister show, She-Ra Princess of Power, aimed at a female audience, and following the story of He-Man's twin sister whom as a child, was kidnapped and taken to an alternate planet by the evil Hordak and raised as his personal enforcer. She-Ra fights the evil planet conquering mechanical horde with a group of rebels in the hopes of freeing her planet from the menace.

    So? Anyone watch it?
