Umm...did you need to make two topics about this? I understand the feeling of being alone, but just confused cause you did also make this same topic in Support & Advice.

I love the film Beautiful Thing. I last watched it about 2 weeks ago and it still raises my spirits - it is quite optimistic and you should try to be optimistic too. You won't be 18 for ever, you will find someone who will stand by you. Plus you have to remember that everyone has days when they feel alone - you are not alone really, even if it seems like that at the moment.

I speak from experience - I'm a very social person and don't do "alone" very well, but I know that if you project a happy vision of yourself, you will attract happiness towards you.

If you like watching films, have you seen Boy Culture? I watched it for the first time this weekend and thought it was uplifting.

You're welcome. Do try to see the film - it's worth the time.

Another amazing film is Shortbus (2006) - it's quite erotic (Boobs and willies and stuff) but I just loved it - like a pornographic version of Cabaret! As they smile to each other across the alley between the buildings at the end - it just made me swell with joy!

Message me if you feel blue again OR if you want to discuss films?

Where in the EU are you - it's a big place! I'm British but I live in the Netherlands.

Ok, Man of Mystery! Judging by your name, I'll pretend you're French, you write English very well, but I imagine a lovely accent français.

I could be completely wrong, but who cares! People sometimes think I'm German!

In the Netherlands, it is not illegal to download films from the Internet, but it is illegal to Upload them. So....

I use kick-ass torrents to access a lot of the films I watch - the quality is usually good enough to me. If I really like a film, I will buy it so I think of it as "try before you buy" and not piracy!

I use some of the online review lists to make my selections, but usually they're no more than a general idea - not very reliable, or perhaps I'm just looking for different things in a film.

As I think of you as French, I'll suggest the title "L'homme que j'aime" (The man I love) which I thought was so tender and sweet, despite the circumstances. Have you seen it?

The list of films I want to own is getting longer and longer!

Give me a film title and let's see if I've seen it. (&&&)

Nop! I'm not French xD but thank you =P.

I don't know if you have seen "J'ai tué ma mère" and "Les amours imaginaires" both from Xavier Dolan. "Summer Storm" is also a good movie about some teen gay love.

    and (*hug*) =)

I have downloaded J'ai tué ma mère and Sommersturm, but haven't watched them yet. I'll do that soon and we can discuss them. Les amours imaginaires I don't know at all so I'll look for it. Thanks for the suggestion.

    I watched 2 fillms yesterday:

Rock Haven, which annoyed me because I SOO wanted the two boys to be happy. Plus it had lots of religious stuff in it which gets me hot under the collar.

And I watched "Were the World Mine" which I loved because it was Shakespeary and magical, like the story of A Midsummer Night's Dream itself.

I'm trying to download "À toute vitesse" and "Comme les autres" at the moment, but the people with the files don't seem to stay online long enough for me to get the whole thing - a disadvantage with torrents, but I'm happy to live with it!

    Have a good afternoon.

So I saw Were The World Mine today. It is in fact a great movie, it shows that we should never lost our faith in love. I don't like very much the musical side of it, but I think that without it the movie probably would not be that good.

J'ai tué ma mère and Sommersturm are two very good movies. I loved Sommersturm, it shows something that I think all of us already pass through, that is a crush on our best friend.

Les Amours Imaginaires it's about two friends (a gay guy and a girl) that fall in love with the same guy and battle for his attention. A good movie about a love triangle.

A very good sunday for you =) and good movies. Give me more suggestions and i'll try to see them. (*hug*) and

I'm glad you liked Were the World Mine - I thought it was just magical. I didn't mind the singing, thought - at least he had a good voice, and song would definitely have been an aspect of a performance of Shakespeare.

I watched Sommersturm last night and enjoyed it. I thought it was very "ordinary" from the point of view that the situations were not unlikely or too "fantastic". I also enjoyed the acting - again, no over-blown performances - just natural.

I can't relate to the loving best friend things - it never happened to me as I felt I couldn't trust my "friends" enough to be open with them, but then I was 18 35 years ago and people were much less accepting. PLUS I always had a thing about older men so I tended to fantasize more about some of my teachers rather than kids of my own age. There was this rugby teacher.............. Which gave me a love of hairy chests ever since.
Very weird, given that my partner is very smooth, but you can't have everything!

I also watched a film called Dirty Girl, which was fun but I wouldn't put it top of the watch list.

I'd recommend another film to you. It's also German "Männer wie wir" (2004) which goes under the English title of Guys & Balls. I lived in Germany for a while, not so far from where the film is set, so I enjoyed "going back". I'm not into football, but you don't have to be to enjoy the story.

I'll watch J'ai tué ma mère this evening and we can chat again.

You will find your Ste, by the way. Anything worth having is worth waiting for!

That's what I liked in Summer Storm. It's something that could happen to everyone, it's not some movie thing (the main history).

I understand that, it was a different time. I'm glad that you found someone that you love no matter what.

So I'll see Guys and Balls and then I'll say something about. I hope you'll like J'ai tué ma mère even though it is a very strange history.

Yes :icon_bigg I really hope that one day I'll find my Ste and I hope I'll be happy with him, just a crazy and strong love.

    Talk to you soon

    Good morning!

After weeks of grey skies and rain, we're having the second beuatifyl day in a row!

I had an operation on my knee last October and it's taken a while to recover the strength, but I was really pleased with myself because I managed to walk for 3 hours beside the river yesterday. It's so good not to feel disabled any more!

I could only find J'ai tué ma mère with Swedish subtitles. I watched it for a few minutes but (I'm a linguist, I can't help but look!) I found the subtitles sooooo distracting. I found out how to turn them off and watched the rest of the film in French. Which was OK until they started screaming at each other and I couldn't follow the mother at all - her Canadian French accent seemed to get even stronger when she was hysterical! I don't normally have much trouble following French, but I've had very little contact with Canadian French.

Firstly, if I were young again, I would love to have a boyfriend like Antonis - so tall and good-looking and yet at the same time kind and modest and "ordinary". I really liked his character.

Secondly, I could understand the difficulties between the boy and his mum. My parents divorced when I was 10 and I stayed with my Dad. I had a couple of difficult years with him (make that 4) when I blamed him for everything that seemed to go wrong in my life. We argued every day and I always ended up crying with frustration. I realize now how patient he was with me - he never once lost his temper, which was a big difference between him and my mum.

I have a sister 11 years older than me and a brother 9 years older. My mum was physically violent towards them and even as a young child, I remember the "danger" and tension. My bro and sis say I was lucky because she was never as violent towards me as she was towards them, but she was older when she had me, perhaps more mature.

I found the film upsetting because of the tension between them - different circumstances, but I could feel the anxiety I experienced when I was a child and for that reason I can't say I "enjoyed" the film. It was a beatifully photographed film, the acting was superb and I found it all completely believable - too believable really, as it provoked emotions from my childhood.

I still can't bear violent films, even at my age, and have to leave cinemas if a film takes a turn I wasn't expecting. It's probaby something I'll never get over, but I can live without violence, whether real or fictional.

So, in summary, I found the film very interesting and compelling and I am very happy that Antonis was able to offer him a sanctuary of love and calmness, just a little too much "angst" for me to say it was enjoyable. I would not hesitate to recommend it to someone, though - it was a beautiful film.

I started watching Edge of Seventeen (1998) but only got halfway through. I was tired! I'll watch the rest this evening. Do you know the film?

In the meantime, have a good day and chat to you soon.

    Hi there :icon_bigg

I'm really happy to know that you're getting better! Soon you'll be fine as you were before the operation.

About the subtitles, I'm sorry that you didn't find them in English but at least you enjoyed the movie anyway. I don't know where you search for them but usually I find them here Subtitles - download DivX subtitles from the biggest open subtitles database and sometimes I need to make some track sync but it is fine.

Yes the movie is a bit violent in some aspects but it ir really a good movie. I'm sad that you had to pas through a rough time with your parents but I see that you turn out very well in life and that's very good.

Yes Antonis I think is like a "Port of Call" that gives him a place calm where he can be himself, think about his problems and the attitudes that he has with his mom.

Never saw Edge of Seventeen but I will see it tonight and we can talk about it soon.

Good day to you too :icon_wink and keep the stretch within you and we talk soon. (*hug*)
