This topic has probably already been talked about tons, but I'd figure I'd ask the question anyways: am I the only GBTQ guy who doesn't like Justin Bieber?

I know I'm probably gonna get some hate for this, but eh it's worth asking anyways. I just find his singing is mediocre, and he pretty much relies on his looks to sell music (which is my general problem with most of today's pop music). I like musical artists for their music, not their looks.

Cannot stand him. Seems pretty average to me. As far as I can tell, he doesn't rely on his looks though - he relies on his youth.

Having said that, I saw a couple of interviews with him aged about 15 or 16, and he did seem like a pretty genuine, down to earth guy. So, not all bad.

No, and everyone else's gripe is the same as yours. I never disliked any rock musicians his age who were really good, because they weren't models trying too hard to be musicians. =p

That's not to say I dislike the kid though. There's far worse in entertainment. Think Chris Brown.

I absolutely hate it when I have to see him or hear his singing. And the fact that he somehow is the poster boy for a gay man annoys the heck out of me. And he doesn't even look good! And his teenage fans, OMG, they're mindless! I cannot fathom why any grown man (or woman) would like him....

I don't dislike him, it would take too much effort. I just don't let him have any impact on my life in any way. I have people complaining about his songs being everywhere on my facebook and I haven't heard any of them. I've never heard a Justin Beiber song all the way through before. I heard a bit of one once, I did not like it at all. That was like 2009-ish. Haven't heard any of his music since, nor do I want to.

I might not be a guy.. but I could not agree with this statement more. I really dislike his music. I find it really annoying. I like him as a person though. He has helped fundraise money for many organizations.

I find him incredibly stupid for a person (judging by his words and opinions in interviews as well as actions/gestures in public).

I don't really care for him.. His music sells so I can't hate him for wanting to make money. It's just he seems a bit full of himself, the way he is in interviews/performances.. What really annoys me is his teenage female fanbase, they're crazy..

Really can't stand him. His music or him the person. First of the most important part of music for me is the lyrics, and let me tell you a 15 year old kid that has had everything handed to him does not have the life experience to write songs that are on the same level as say "If You See Her Say Hello" by Dylan, "Into My Arms" by Nick Cave or "Take It With Me" by Tom Waits. His song's have these repetitive choruses with nothing truly interesting going on with his voice. For instance the people I listed above may be criticized for their voices being "damaged" by smoking or alcohol but it lets them tell these stories and carry across their messages with a world weary voice that is truly their own. Justin Bieber on the other hand has a generically good pop voice.

The music I also find quite annoying, there is no real skill behind it, no heart or feeling for that matter. Justin Bieber is basically my perfect example of what's wrong with some of the most popular acts today. Just basic, basic lyrics, sung by a boy who probably hasn't even found his "real" voice yet and backed by mediocre music.

By the way I didn't write all of this just out of some furious blind rage over Justin Bieber I'm just quite passionate about music.

Not a fan of his music, but there's no denying that he is a very gifted singer. I dislike the hypocrisy of hating him. People will trash his looks, lyrics, and autotuned music, and then go on to listen to exactly the same crap by other artists.

I personally don't understand the hate. He's a teen popstar who is super-popular for young girls. He's good looking, he's nice, he does lots for charity. Ellen loves him and we all know Ellen is perfect

I couldn't care less about his music, but he's doing it right. I mean, it's not like he's killing puppies or anything... There's shitloads of room for all types of musicians.

I read all your replies, and it's really nice to see so many diverse opinions - I guess you could say my eyes have been opened a bit.

I guess as a person I really don't have anything against him... my main gripe is probably how he is EVERYWHERE and I can't seem to even go online, let alone leave the house, without running into something referencing him somewhere.

But I'll admit that if I was able to market myself and make oodles of money, It would be very tempting to do so :P
Also, does he actually believe it's a choice?

Oh, and while I'm at it (and sort of off topic), does anyone also think that the Twilight series sucks? If it's too far off topic just ignore...

That was the quote that got me to raise a brow at him.

The gay one was more along the lines of, "Doing that is their decision, it doesn't effect me or anyone else." Along those lines.

I could say so many things about him, most of which would probably get me kicked off of this website.

The short answer is I cannot stand him, and I think he is a self-absorbed mind-enslaving pretty boy living off of his girlfriend's money. And I think his fans are almost worse than he is the way they are always hating on anyone or anything that isn't Justin or takes something away from Justin. Need I remind you of the riot he caused in that foreign country I can't remember the name of?
