You'll probably find the entire pop-punk genre to be to your liking; my understanding is that living in the suburbs (and not letting it get you down) is a pretty common theme in that genre. I can't recommend many songs from it as I don't listen to it often, but I can recommend "Local Man Ruins Everything" and "You're Not Salinger. Get Over It" by The Wonder Years. See what bands you can find that are similar to The Wonder Years and I'm sure you'll find plenty of songs to choose from.
Not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for since it also involves another person, but here's one from my favorite artist, Jhameel.
Two words: GREEN DAY. Anything by them is fitting, and I know you'll love some of these... Try "Castaway", "Cigarettes and Valentines", "Christie Road", and "Misery" and tell me what you think!!
Hmm, I don't know if this exactly the kinda think you were lookin for, but it's still a good song eh! I instantly thought of the album "The Suburbs" by Arcade Fire. Title song:
A lot of their first album, 'Funeral', is about suburban banality, youth alienation and all that. And of course, funerals. All very romantic.
