    Mac.

    -Easier to use
    -Less viruses and security threats
    -Prettier (lol)
-High resale value (like 40% after 5 years as opposed to 20% for a PC) so it's actually cheaper in the long run

I can't vote because I like both of them.

PC is what I grew up on. I heard Macs can't play games. And I like the navigation on PC and the keyboard shortcuts, and just how the feel is. Sometimes I use Macs, and I just like, seriously can't get it to cooperate. Macs are expensive to fix too.

I want a Mac because: the editing software, the way you can take it out and feel pretty having it [they're like dogs for gay people], the chat features are nice, the built in software and storage, and it just basically makes life easier in a laptop. I'd never get a mac desktop.

I love PC, especially since Vista was released. To me, Vista is very user-friendly with a great glassy appearance, which is more relaxing to look at. However, it also lets me go as deep into customization and modifying stuff as I want, but keeps it all hidden when I don't want to.

To me the Apple OSX interface is too simple - it's just boxes and flat, 2D colours that really overdo the minimalist design. It just looks way too basic.

I also am a big fan of the Start menu and the easy search function for programs in vista - no more searching through folders, just takes 2 seconds to type it and find it.

Linux users aren't going to like that it isn't an option.

I choose PC because of the overwhelming choice of software, and hardware. As well there's an overwhelming available knowledge-base for basically any thing. With the release of XP, Windows is pretty stable, yet easy to configure. Having half a clue, security isn't really a concern. With one version out for so long it has a lot of software and hardware support. PC's have better backwards compatibility compared to Mac. As well better bang for the buck, and more serviceable.

I don't understand this resale value but then again I never try to sell my old computers. I try to keep re-purposing them until they break or are of no value to anyone.

I have picked up used computers and appreciate that the used price isn't over inflated. Summer 2006 I bought a surplus company computer for $40 to use in the summer. That computer is now on its 4th life and still very serviceable.

I just picked up 2 free PIII computers. One needed a new video card, the other has a fairly small hard drive, but both are very serviceable machines.

I have to give Apple credit. Since they dumped the disaster MacOS 9-like OS's in favour of BSD based OSX, the platform is much better. With OSX Mac users get to enjoy preemptive multitasking stability not before seen in MacOS cooperative multitasking platforms, yet be the most easy to use Unix like OS I've seen! The ease of installing applications, unheard of in the Unix world! The OS is very attractive but it annoys me the lack of customization. New hardware being based on Intel hardware is a plus. It lets me make a hackintosh with PC hardware.

I'm afraid I was raised on PC and I stick with it. Our art department has a Mac and I can't use it at all. Plus I've heard they are terrible for playing games on and are awesomely expensive to fix if they break, and unfortunately Apple products like to break a lot.

PC with Windows. I need to support clients who use Windows, and I have been using it since Windows 3.0. I have the software I need for Windows and I do not intend to buy it all again for a different OS. Windows machines can be upgraded and even self-built which saves money compared to buying a fixed spec Mac.

Macs are more expensive to buy, and the cost of parts if they go wrong is obscene! I was quoted £70 for a small battery to keep the clock going in an old Mac Powerbook. This battery is four small rechargeable cells between two pieces of self-adhesive plastic, with a couple of wires and a plug - parts cost about £3. Apple are taking unfair advantage of their name and monopoly. So my Mac forgets the time when switched off.

There is a much wider range of low cost, free and open source software available for Windows than for OS-X.

As far as I know, there is no server version of OS-X and Apple do not make servers. So a Windows or Linux server would still be needed for a serious network.

Apple seem to be targeting people who want the name and the image and are prepared to pay over-the-odds for it.

I use PC, and run Windows XP Pro. I hate Vista. I like laptops, and I can't stand Mac's for the no right click. Get a real mouse apple...

Also, Paul, They do have an Server version of os-x, but it is just a basic LAMP server, with fancy GUI configuration wizards.

I have a PC with windows (and linux) because I can't afford a Mac. At least from an architectural point of view they seem better. *sigh* Anything is better than Windows I guess.

Apple makes both servers (Xserve) and server OSs (Leopard Server). Leopard Server isn't a LAMP server by the way: LAMP implies Linux as the OS.

By the way... you can install Windows on a Mac but not OS X on a PC...

That should be "You're allowed to installed Windows on a Mac, but not supposed to install OS X on a PC."

This is in VMWare simulating PC hardware, not Mac hardware. There's actually people that run OSX native on PC hardware, with as good or better performance than Macs. In VMWare it runs like molasses.

Mac, totally. I use PCs in my art class (ART, imagine) and they suck so intensely, it's not even funny. I don't think Windows is the devil, it's decent and I can understand sticking with it if it's all you've known, but I wouldn't be able to bear it day-to-day. It crashes more and just feels clunky.

Oh, and for people interested in switching, you know you can install your copy of Windows on a Mac in case you don't like it, eh? Check it out.

I must say that its PC/Windows for me. Mainly because I'm a gamer-holic.

I'm also a massive fan of upgrading the hardware as soon as the latest bleeding edge piece of techno-porn comes out.

I'm a great fan of the Mac though, it does have it's uses in particular fields, although that advantage is becoming smaller due to low cost PC's and lowering software prices.

The problem with Mac's is that you're limited by the hardware. Even the RAM chips are on different daughter boards. All in all, a Mac is more expensive in the short term, and because you can't upgrade them as easily as a Wintel, you can't play the latest games. They just don't have the juice for it.

Everyone always goes on about "less bugs....... etc....." but macs have their own faults. It's just they're different to PC ones. Oh, as for security issues on a PC........
    ...... Firewall and Anti-Virus and Spam-killer.
    Problem solved.

As for system stability, my comp has been running for a couple of weeks now, no reboots, and still no BSOD or freezes.

But Mac's must be better overall. They're the underdog, and we all know and should agree that the underdogs are always the better machines.
Remember the Amiga (Atari ST fans STFU :icon_bigg ).

I consider Mac linux, since it is based off linux/Debian. Plus apple, they use Apache, MySQL and PHP, so it is a wanna be LAMP server, just more expensive if you ask me.

Also, take a look at http://lifehacker.com/348653/install-os-x-on-your-hackintosh-pc-no-hacking-required/

The "L" in "LAMP" means "Linux"...

That thing wouldn't work on my computer by the way.
