Just thought that I'd create this thread, as I just saw number 4; it was effing terrifying. The ending was brilliantly scary. Anyway, discuss away! What do you think of the films? Scary? Not? ;P
I have watched them all save 4, please don't spoil! I liked the first one a lot. It was pretty scary. The second one was pretty boring though, tbh :-/ The third one however was awesome, new scares. Gonna watch 4 soon. Is it any good?
On my way to see 4 right now. I love seeing shows on opening night and screaming with a ton of other people. I loved the other three. I'm bad at being critical because I'm so easily entertained, not that that's a bad thing.
I thought that it was amazing, by far the best in the series. Alex and Ben (lead girl and her boyfriend) have great chemistry with each other, and they are both highly believable in their roles. I'm not gonna reveal too much, but when Alex calls Ben and can hear his phone.....I almost cried. Katie isn't it in a lot, but she features in it a bit. You also get to properly see the demon's figure in the film, thanks to the Kinect tracking dots. This feature is so spooky when you see Toby moving around. Ending is the best in all the movies, and it leaves an opportunity for a fifth film. It's a true horror-type climax, and there were many points where I covered my face with my hands, as it was so horrifying. The only complaint I have is that Alex is a bit of a typical character - she hears noises in the garage and immediately investigates, even though a shed load of PA has already happened. But she was spunky and clever, which is good. Overall, it's a brilliant film, I highly recommend it. It doesn't really answer many questions from other films, but it's still fantastic
Yeah...I liked it, there were some good parts, the leads were quite likable, but honestly I have no idea where the plot is even going anymore. The end was quite interesting and pretty tense. I think everyone cried at Ben's cell phone. I was crushed. The garage scene was pretty cool. It did take her a while to think to use the golf club. I don't understand Robby's significance though. Also, what's the freaking point of the cameras if they don't pay attention to the clips that practically scream "DEMON IN THE HOUSE"?
I know, right? Alex was a bit dim in the film, why did she even bother looking for her dad at Katie's house? There's no way that they can end the series there. They have to explain who Robbie is, how Hunter ended up being adopted by Alex's family, and what happened to Alex. I know it's kinda obvious what happened to her, but it'd be interesting to find out exactly what....
I'm not sure if you guys watched the part after the credits but I didn't get that at all. Was it supposed to mean something?...I mean all it was was a Hispanic lady yelling at someone.
I know I will catch some hate for this, but how are they on #4. There is no story change with movies like these and they just keep making sequels. It is probably just me but I hate movies where the whole thing is from the point of view of a home video camera. The Blare Witch Project showed us that it is a bad idea. -Go ahead and start yelling at me
PA#1= Boring. Nothing special or scary. PA#2= Less believable, but more entertaining. Still not that special. PA#3= Scary because it had little kids. That's it. PA#4= Haven't seen it.
Actually there is a story in the movies. So there is story change. I'm not super fan of this movies but, hey, they have a really good marketing. That's why people still watching this
My mom and I were severely disappointed with #1 and haven't bothered with any sequels. We wanted to be scared, but we were bored.
Whatever it's totally your opinion. And I didn't see the post-credits scene, but apparently some guy is a shop or something and says 'witchcraft' whilst pointing at this voodoo stuff. A woman walks in and says 'this is just the beginning'. It's the marketing for the new spin-off of the series, which is Latino, and will feature religion heavily, similar to the move The Devil Inside. The film's gonna be in English, though.
I JUST READ THIS: "On October 21st, Paramount confirmed plans for a fifth film in the series, scheduled for October 2013." YEAHBOI!
I hate it when people shit all over a film just because it didn't have the standard cheap-scare formula (some ugly thing dominating the screen + obnoxiously loud music + maybe a scream = guaranteed panic attacks all around). Everyone has their preferences, but there is more to horror than being bombarded with sounds on maximum volume every twenty minutes. I actually do like jump scares, but when it makes up the entirety of a movie, that's just being lazy. Rant aside, the story (as obscure as it is) really hasn't gone anywhere. PA4 was more of a filler than anything else. But I liked the actors in this one so it was okay. I had to pee so bad I missed the ending, but from the looks of this thread, it's not a real loss.
^Whaaat?! You missed a LOT in the ending - that was the best and scariest part of the film! But I agree, story-wise, 4 seems like a filler. I like the PA series as horror movies because I hate gory horrors. They just don't appeal to me, they're pretty disgusting tbh. PA is great because it's psychologically scary too.
Ah, that's my bad. I did see the ending; I meant I missed the little clip after the credits. Gore in just the right spots can be excellent, but sometimes it's all a movie has to offer. It's practically porn at that point. Although one bloodbath I absolutely loved was Cabin in the Woods.
