    I love vinyl records.

Now that's been said... before I start recommending anything random, what kind of music are you into? And do you like old stuff or more new-ish bands?

Does it have 45 and 78 rpm speeds? As well as the 33 1/3?

I collect vinyl and have a player as well. It's a pretty cool hobby and there's nothing more exciting than going into a record store and searching through boxes and crates until you find the album you've been looking for. As for recommendations, it all depends on what your tastes are. There are some classic albums that are always cool to have on vinyl, such as Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and Fleetwood Mac's "Rumors".

    Mike Oldfields "Tubular Bells 2003"
Fantastic album, I highly recommend it.

Queen "A Night at the Opera"
Their best album, you can't go wrong.

Most indie releases nowadays seem to be available from internet shops, bigcartel for example. For older releases, they're far more easily found in specialist shops.

    I have 3 12"s and 5 7"s, all dating between 2009 and 2012.

There are a lot of older albums being rereleased on vinyl and a lot of indie bands and not-so-indie bands are releasing new albums on vinyl alongside the CD release and you can find some great deals just looking around in record stores.

I don't have any specific recommendations on albums but I will say that if you haven't already, invest in a carbon fibre brush and some kind of a wet cleaning solution and brush. You can get them for about 15-20 bucks. The carbon fibre brush will remove dust and should be used before dropping the stylus. If you are planning on getting some used records then a thorough cleaning is essential. Years and years of dust, dirt and oily fingerprints will probably be in all the little grooves. A proper brush and cleaning solution should clean the years of gunk off them. It really only needs to be cleaned like that once provided you handle them carefully and take care of them. I bought a Spin-clean which does the same thing esssentially. It's basically a basin of cleaning solution and some rollers and brushes.

Playing clean records will sound way better and it will extend the life of your cartridges and the records themselves.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot. I usually put all my used records in new sleeves after cleaning them. Some of the sleeves they were in can be pretty dingy. I still keep them handy though in case I want to pull it out to check out lyrics or for whatever reason. Maybe I'm being a little anal on this last bit but I just think putting them in a clean sleeve after cleaning them makes sense.

Just use isopropyl alcohol and a lint free "Thing" to clean your records
