I've always admired things and people from Britain.
It's turning into quite the fascination for me.
I love it.
Several of my favorite musicians are British (or English, admittedly I do not know what is the proper descriptor:eusa_doh:slight_smile:

Adele.
I could never get tired of hearing Adele. She's gorgeous and she has an amazing voice.

Never mind that I also love James Bond (Skyfall has really kicked off this round of British fascination) and Adele and James Bond coincide here :

Ed Sheeran.
My friend sent me his album + on Spotify and ever since then, I've been hooked.

Cosmo Jarvis.
Who COULDN'T freaking love this man?

So - what am I missing out on? Who am I not aware of that is an amazing British/English artist?

Ella Henderson.

She's not actually an artist - YET. But trust me, she will be very, very successful. I think this youtube video speaks for itself.

Also, Leona Lewis. <3

Foals are my all time favourite band. And they're British.

'British' will suffice. Those of us from Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland tend to resent being called English :icon_wink

My all time favourite singer is Seal he is just amazing.

Dido is another fantastic artist.

Tbh I don't seem to like that many British artists/bands but as well as Seal and Dido I like Connor Maynard, Cheryl Cole, Girls Aloud and I'm just getting into Ellie Goulding

How could I have forgotten Ellie Goulding and Florence + the Machine? I love both of them as well! I had no idea that Muse and Leona Lewis were British!

8. Sorry how have The Beatles and The Rolling Stones not been mentioned? They are like THE british bands. Shameful.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps-The Beatles

Gimme Shelter-The Rolling Stones

Two of the best songs ever right there if you ask me, and that's not even scratching the surface.

Just be careful what you call people from Northern Ireland - some resent being called British, some resent being called Irish, and some prefer "Northern Irish". Best to use what the person uses themselves. (and let's not mention the city of Londonderry/Derry).

As for British music, some of the best bands have already been mentioned, but I always have a soft spot for new talent - the music I have been enjoying for the last 18 months or so comes from the following talented artists / groups

Jake Bugg - one of the best new singer song writers around

One of the best new bands around - Dog Is Dead - massively under appreciated though (even if they seam to be THE music sound track for BBC ONE East Midlands current affairs programmes  )

And finally Indiana - she has an amazing voice with her debut album due next spring

I love the Beatles too. I just wasn't thinking of it at this moment.

Fair point. I dare say even British is preferable to English though.

Getting back to the music, if we're including such drivel as the Beatles (waaaay overhyped in my humble opinion), we may as well include Take That

Just kidding. But for a really great British band, there are few better than The Who.

A couple years ago Gorillaz, Radiohead and Muse together dominated a vast majority of music that I listened to then. Always thought it was funny that my top 3 favorite bands at that time all came from the UK~

Muse are, imo, THE best British band out. Constantly evolving, amazing live (i've had the honour of seeing them twice, once at Wembley Stadium which was amazing) and they're such awesome guys. Matt Bellamy is a god on guitar, he is crazy talented.
